Construction Industry

Introduction

Infrastructure is a visible proof that a country is economically booming.

Construction of these infrastructures must be implemented according to
standards and in the shortest possible time to minimize costs. To do this,
technology must be applied. In the construction industry, all aspect of the works
should be employed with technology. From planning, construction, project
completion even way beyond its final turn-over, technology plays a great part in its
sustenance. In the planning stage, drawing tools and the latest gadgets to present
the plans and other documents are essential. During construction and eventual
project turn-over, the tools and equipment, monitoring system and other
technology is a must. Although the project has been completed, its maintenance
including the monitoring system need technology which is as important as when
the projects were conceptualized.

Old Practices

Although there is no concrete date when the construction industry started

but manifestations show that as early as when mankind started to look for their
shelter, construction was noticeable. On the basis of archaeological findings, any
sharp objects used as tools and any available materials were used to construct
one’s home. Construction evolved by the development of tools, procedures,
materials, etc. Even when there was no construction standards, structures were
built thousands of years ago and still regarded as remarkable. Eqypt’s Great

Forecast on Philippine Construction Industry (Architectural Aspect)

Since Philippine construction industry is into globalization, architecture field

as part of the industry is into computerization. Computers are widely used as an
instrument from the pre-construction, construction and post construction phases.
Various computer soft wares are utilized from design conceptualization, working
drawing developments, construction and project management stages and from
the turnover of projects to public and private owners. Aside from AutoCad, the
following soft wares are also used like SketchUp, Vray, Lumion, Revit, Studio Max,
ArchiCad, ZWCad among others. Years from now this will still be a wide practice in
architecture and computer software innovations will still be very vital.
Architecture and construction industry is also into Business Process Outsourcing
(BPO) and is on its expansion both in and outside Metro Manila. Filipino architects
and architecture graduates serves as service providers to foreign counterparts.
This can lead to additional construction of commercial buildings.

global construction industry contributions coming from the Asia Pacific, the world
is now looking at this region for investment opportunities, especially in the
Philippines, which is an emerging hub in Asia for both business and leisure.
