When there wasn’t any television, people used to go out for having fun, to concerts, to

plays, to play with their neighbors to canalize all their energy and to parks with their

children. In those older activities, people shared information or news.

Nowadays, television has become one of the principal entertainment for a lot of people in

the world. But is it true that television has destroyed communication among friends and

family?

It could be that television has destroyed communication among friends and family because

the high range of tv programs makes a lot of kind of people find the perfect genre for them,

therefore it is bad due inside a familiar environment, the different personalities of each

member of it, would prefer to be alone watching his or her own program avoiding being

with the rest of the family. In addition, the new development of TV technologies like Smart

TV or 3D TV could be one of the reasons why people prefer to be alone watching series,

sports, documentaries or movies instead of going out with their friends to any of the above

mentioned activities.

Notwithstanding, it is not totally true that television has destroyed communication among

friends and family as a result of the existence of some tv programs that let them create

debate in favor or against some scientific, political, sports or social problems turning into a
good way to obtain knowledge and to create lasting ties of friendship. Moreover, teenagers

organize film marathons with their fellows and this help them to keep contact.

In conclusion, in a general sense I agree with the statement that television has destroyed

communication among friends and family.
