OVERVIEW
Greennovate developed a program for FedEx China to build
environmental understanding in the Wuhan office, NUMBERS
encouraging employee participation in actions related to FedEx employees in
environment and establishing a volunteer base for teaching training sessions: 144
about environment in local schools. The program ran for six FedEx employees
months as part of FedEx China’s corporate social participating in high
responsibility platform. Greennovate’s role encompassed: school outreach: 50
High school students
Internal sustainability training for 144 FedEx employees involved: 500
Environmental outreach training and materials for 50 FedEx
employees to participate in the Greennovate Environmental
Challenge for Kids Outreach (GECKO) program in two high
schools

Coordinating sustainability projects with participants

Managing relations with local environmental bureaus

Arranging approvals for two high schools in the region to


deliver the GECKO program

Teaching at high schools together with participants

SUSTAINABILITY
TRAINING CONTENT
Greennovate provided internal training to build understanding
of environmental issues and how to apply this knowledge to
FedEx business.

Training covered the key aspects of:


1. Healthy environment, healthy society – Scientific approach to
environmental systems and ecosystem services and relationship
between environmental values and quality of life

2. Ecological footprint – Causes and intensifiers of human


environmental impacts and how to reduce them

3. Steps toward sustainability – Examines current business


behavior through the lens of sustainability and developing
roadmap for improvements

4. Patterns and trends in the environment – Identifies patterns in


population growth, economy and resource consumption to
project future trends and how it relates to FedEx strategy

5. Energy – Examines the impacts of energy consumption and


how to reduce it, a relevant question in the transport industry
which depends on fossil fuel consumption

6. Green to Gold – Case studies of emerging green opportunities


including the multi-million dollar solar panel industry and the
growing electric auto industrya

Greennovate arranged and conducted environmental
outreach programs with FedEx employees including:

demonstrating how to manage ocean resources lives and between environment

not to litter garbage everywhere
but to separate and recycle waste,
to save water and electricity, and

FedEx participants show off the recycle bins that their student
teams had created. After selecting winning candidates, the
boxes were placed in the classrooms where they are used to
separate recyclables.
