Water is one of the most important substances on earth.

Water is the source of

life that plays an important role for the survival of living of all creatures. More
than two third of the earth surfaces are covered by water and the rest of it are land
area. Only 3 % of the total water on earth can be consumed by human and 97% of
it is salt water that cannot be consumed by human. However, the requirmentt of
water for organism is very complex, especialy for human. Human needs water to
do many kinds of activities and the need of water will increase everyday. The
needs of water are as follows:

1. Animal: water is used for metabolism, such as regulate the temperature of

body, manage the pressure of blood, change the digestive process, transport
nutrients to all over the body.
2. Plants: water is used to transport nutrients from the process of photosynthesis,
solvent the nutrient from the soil to enter the plant, use for the process of
respiration and
3. Human: water is used for cooking, drinking, taking a bath, washing clothes,
washing dish, etc. In agriculture, water is used for irrigation. In industry, water
is used as energy supply and some manufacture products.

Water is also an essential part for human body since human body consist of 70 %
of it. The water is used to regulate the body temperature, assist the process of
metabolism, prevents from becoming dehydrated, transport the nutrients, remove
waste and helps to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

Technological development that grow rapidly has produced many products to

help human activity easier. Sometimes, the process of the making product or the
use of the product create waste and pollutant in the environment, especially on
water area, such as river and sea. This waste called as water pollution and this
substances will built up in water to such an extent that may cause many problems
for animals or people. The water pollution can cause the quality of water
decreasse. This water condition cannot be consumed by human. Why? Below are
the effect of water pollution:

1. Ecological Distruption
the subtance of pollutants like mercury that polluted the water may have a
wide range of impacts on the quality of water. It can risk the ecological
condition. For example, the polluted water will increase in alga blooms that
can make the fish death when excessive algae are caught in their gills. If the
fish the population of decrease, it will also decrease the bird population.
Therefore ecosystem and food chain are distrupted.
2. Creating disease
Water pollution can cause some diseases like cholera, dysentery, diarrhoea,
tuberculosis to human. It is dangerous and may cause death.

The effects of water pollution not always appear in time and not always seen at
the point of contamination. However the water pollution has a huge impact on the
lives of all creatures. In this case, required some actions to controll the pollution,
such as

1. To use water wisely

2. Not to throw chemicals, oil, paints and medicines on the water
3. Not to overuse the chemicals and pesticides
4. To use green and subtance which is friendly to environment
5. To keep the water life cycle
