Speaking Test

The speaking test is about 11 – 14 minutes long. During your Speaking test there
will be an IELTS examiner who will ask you general questions on familiar topics in
the beginning to check your English speaking ability. After that you will be given a
card on a topic, and you will also be given a pencil and paper so that you can
prepare your talk on this topic for 1-2 minutes. Examiner may ask you one or two
questions on the same topic.

Please note that the Speaking test is a skill based exam. The examiner may stop
you during your test if you spend more time than required or if the examiner feels
that he/she already has gathered enough evidence of your speaking ability.
Examiner will record the entire conversation which will be evaluated at a later stage.

The Listening, Writing and Reading tests are taken on the registered test date. The
reporting time for these exams is 11:30 AM, Exams gate closes at 12:15 noon, and
the exams end at around 4 PM. The actual exams take about 2 hours and 45
minutes. We use the rest of the time for security check, identity check and
instructions.

In both Listening and Reading tests there will be multiple choice questions as well
as questions for which you will have to write one to three words or numbers. You
should always follow the instructions given on the question papers. You must use a
pencil to answer the questions of both your Listening and Reading tests.

For the Writing test you will have to do two tasks. Task 1 carries less marks and you
should write about 150 words, Task 2 carries more marks and you should write
about 250 words. For the Writing test you can either use a pen or a pencil. We will
give you a stationary bag with a pencil, an eraser, a sharpener and couple of pens
