1. A single rolling load of 10 KN rolls along a girder of 20m span. What will be the absolute
maximum B.M. and S.F.
2. A single rolling load of 100 kN moves on a girder of span 20m. Determine (i)
shear force and (ii) bending moment for a section 5m from the left support.
3. A uniformly distributed load of 1KN per metre run, 6m long crosses a girder of 16m span.
Construct the maximum S.F. and B.M. diagrams and calculate the values at sections 3m,
5m and 8m from the left hand support.
4. Two point loads of 4KN and 6KN spaced 6m apart cross a girder of 16m span , the
4KN load leading from left to right. Construct the maximum S.F. and B.M. diagrams,
starting the absolute maximum values.
5. The system of concentrated shown in fig. rolls from left to right across a beam simply
supported over a span of 40m , the 4KN load leading .For a section 15m from the left
hand support. Determine maximum B.M. and S.F.

6. A girder , simply supported over a span of 20m, is traversed by moving loads as shown
in fig. Determine the max. B.M. at 8m from the left hand support.

7. In a simply supported girder AB of span 20m, determine the maximum bending moment
and maximum shear force at a section 5m from A, due to the passage of a uniformly
distributed load of intensity 20 kN/m, longer than the span.
8. Two point loads, W1 and W2 (W1<W2) spaced at a distance ‘d’ travel from left to right
across a simply supported girder, with W1 leading. Prove that the limiting span below
which the greatest bending moment anywhere in the girder will occur when the load W1

has gone off the girder, is equal to
