h3rd Quarter Worship Night

WHY WE WORSHIP:
1. Honor and bless our Creator
2. Thank God everything that He has done for us
3. Communicate and Know God better

WORSHIP TIME IS OUR WAY TO “CATCH UP” WITH GOD.

 Like a friend who wants to listen, share stories and catch up with
a friend.
 A moment to be intimate with Him; expressing through our songs
and hymns our affections to the Lord.

There is a man in the bible who spoke to the Lord DIRECTLY. Like how
one speaks to a friend.

Exodus 33: 11- 18

11 The
LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.
Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of
Nun did not leave the tent.

12 Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’
but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said,
‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are
pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to
find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send
us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and
with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and
your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
17 And
the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked,
because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

4 THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM MOSES’ RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD

1. MOSES WAS INTIMATE WITH GOD
11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a
friend.

 "face to face": a very deep personal fellowship/relationship

with God
 “Speaking to a friend”: confident, comfortable, without fear of
negative judgement

**Do we have a deep personal relationship with God?

**When we communicate to God through prayer and

worship, is there a sense of friendship and intimacy?

2. MOSES KNEW GOD’S PROMISES.

(and is not afraid to demand the same from God)

12 Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’
but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said,
‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are
pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to
find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

CONTEXT:
3 Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with
you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you
on the way.”
 The original plan is that the Lord will be with them as they
journey to the promise land. But the Lord decided not to go
because His holiness will consume them.
 God’s promises to Moses:
o “I know you by name and you have found favour with
me”
o “Remember that this nation is your people”

But because Moses had an intimate relationship with the Lord

and he knew the Lord’s promises fully well, he was confident to
appeal and demand the Lord to fulfil His promises.
**Are you confident that God will fulfil His promises to you?

3. MOSES VALUED GOD’S PRESENCE.

God’s presence was so important to Moses to the point that the
promise land was not anymore his primary goal. Moses’ primary
goal is to be with the presence of God.

15 ThenMoses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send
us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me
and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me
and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

(Lord, kung hindi kita kasama, hindi ako pupunta)

**What is your primary goal? The promise or to be in the

presence of the promise giver?
The Lord’s Response:
17 And
the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked,
because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

**Moses models a relationship with the Lord that is not afraid to

hold God to God's promises, prayer that is not afraid to appeal
to God's love for God's people.
**Moses, through this audacious prayer, succeeds in securing
God's promise that God will indeed abide with the Israelites
throughout their long wilderness wandering.

4. MOSES WANTS MORE OF GOD.

 Moses was never contented with His relationship with the Lord.
 He constantly longs for more.

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

**How much do we long to see God’s glory?

Our desire as we worship God tonight:

1. Intimacy
2. Promises
3. Presence
4. More of God’s glory
