As far as I can see, our government is doing their part in taking necessary precautions to prevent the

unwanted spread of Ebola virus in the Philippine territory, as proof, Philippines is still an Ebola-free
country. However, there are certain circumstances that are far beyond the control of our government,
the return of those undocumented OFWs from West African countries is a threat to our national security
as far as the health environment of the Filipinos is concerned though Ebola is not an air borne disease, it
can easily contaminate the others once it has reached our territory. First point, this current issue shall
strengthen our government’s initiative, monitoring and disciplinary measures with regards to illegal
recruitment of OFWs abroad, the unwanted return of these people in the Philippines, in times of health
crisis in the foreign country they have been staying, may cause risk to the health of million Filipinos who
were innocently living in their own country. Moreover, these people tend to have huge effect as they
would add up to the burden of the government, since their identities were unknown and as a result, the
government will not be able to secure their safety through the 21-day quarantine.

For my second point, our Filipino peacekeepers shall be considered as our present time heroes, for their
bravery and heroic acts of helping other nationals contaminated by the deadly virus Ebola. However,
their resistance from the 21-day quarantine shall not be tolerated by our government despite the
services they had rendered in honor of our country. The government shall not let an ounce of possibility
of risk of spreading the infection brought by the Ebola virus through negligence in following and
executing their protocol with regards to peacekeepers, OFWs or travellers who were possible carriers of
the Ebola. On the other hand, the appeal of our peacekeepers shall be given weight, since our family
bonds are deeply rooted in the veins of our Filipino character, but the 21 day quarantine shall not be
disregarded, instead the government shall provide alternative resolutions for our peacekeepers to be
with their families within a reasonable period of time. After all what they ask for is just a piece of cake
compare to their life that is at stake while serving other nationals and performing their duties for our
country.
