1- ASME Timeline

 ASME was founded in 1880 in response to numerous steam boiler pressure vessel
failures.
 First performance test code of Steam Boilers trail was conduct in 1884.
 First revision of an ASME standard was made in 1900.
 ASME has over 140,000 members in 158 countries worldwide .
 It produces approximately 600 codes and standards covering many technical areas.

3- MTC Introduction
 Mill Test Certificate (MTC) and often also called a Certified Mill Test Report, Certified Material
Test Report, Mill Test Report (MTR), Inspection Certificate, Certificate of Test.

 Quality Assurance certificate.

 MTC provides Traceability and Assurance to the end user about the quality of the steel used
and the process used to produce it.

 Certifies material's Chemical and Physical Properties and states a product made of material.

 Compliance with an International Standards ASTM, ASME, EN or specific standards.

4- Types of MTC (EN 10204)
2.1
 2.1→ Certified by the manufacturer
(With-out Test Results)
 2.2 → Certified by the manufacturer 3.2 MTC 2.2
(With Test Results)
 3.1 → Certified by manufacturer`s authorized
3.1
inspection representative independent of
the manufacturing department
 3.2 → Statement of compliance with the order,
with indication of results of specific inspection
and certified by the material manufacturer and independent inspection agency
(TUV, ABS, LR, SGS, HSB and etc.)

determined by the following formula:

 API 577_ Para10.9.2: No welding or oxygen cutting
allowed if carbon content is
o Steels with a CE less than 0.35 require no preheat over 0.35%
o Steels with a CE of 0.35 to 0.55 usually require preheating,
o Steels with a CE greater than 0.55 require both preheating and a PWHT.

API 510_8.1.5:
Carbon or alloy steel with carbon content over 0.35 % shall not be welded
