communication, and

K.G. is interested in trains,

express. He enjoys iPads,
chocolate, and classroom
jobs. K.G. transferred into
the class from general
education in the middle of
the school year. He
becomes frustrated when
he is unable to
communicate or obtain
something he wants. He
has been observed to hit,
kick, spit, and use Spanish
curse words.

Environment
The classroom is small and
uses furniture to clearly
define areas. This is a self-
contained classroom with
9 students with limited
communication with four
adult staff members. The
student has a TAS based
on behavioral data.
There are no materials
that are within reach
without adult supervision.
All materials and activities
throughout the day are
hands-on manipulatives,
there is little to no
worksheets being used.
There are a variety of toys,
academic materials for
math, literacy, social
studies, fine motor work,
etc. suitable for a variety
of skill levels. The students
are expected to learn
grade level material.
Task Tools
Math: During whole group,
K.G. is expected to show
his ability to count with
the group by verbally
counting or tapping his
head for each counter and
showing the number using
his fingers. The class splits
into three small groups
and rotates every 7
minutes. During these
groups, he is expected to
rote count, create groups
given a numeral, and
perform independent task
boxes focused on fine
motor skills.
