Course Title: SPECIAL CRIME INVESTIGATION Course Code: CDI 3
Credit Units: 3 units Pre-requisite: 3rd year standing
Hours/week: 3 hours Co-requisite: None
Course Description: This subject is intended and part of the curriculum of Bachelor of Science in Criminology students, covering theories and techniques of Criminal
Investigation, Special Crimes in particular, on special cases such as, environmental crimes, homicide, car napping and human trafficking cases etc.
A special study of modern techniques in the investigation of crimes penalized under special laws.

Program Intended Learning Graduates of BS Criminology , are expected to:


Outcome (PILO)
1. Be professionally competent and morally upright individual who can deliver efficient and effective service in crime prevention, crime detection
and investigation, law enforcement and custody and rehabilitation of offenders among others, in order to meet demands of globalization as it
impact on the rapidly changing interdisciplinary field of criminal justice.
2. Understand the basic know-how principles underlying the criminal justice professions and be productive citizens of the society.
3. Understand the substantive aspects of the laws and comprehend the nature of the crimes, the different punishable acts and the penalties
attached to them;
4. Acquire and apply appropriate skills in detection, investigation and prosecution of the crimes;
5. Compare, analyze and evaluate the different selected sets of jurisprudence that present different scenarios and experiences relating to
trafficking of persons, violation of forestry laws, mining laws, fishing laws, anti-pollution laws ;
6. Evaluate their skills in detection, investigation and prosecution of trafficking related cases, and enhance their competency and capabilities as
law enforcers and prosecutors (would-be law enforcers and prosecutors)
7. Empathize with the plight of the victims and popularize the importance of a peaceful environment through helping or assisting people and
community away from the dangers of victimization;

Course Intended Learning At the end of this course, the students should be able to :

3. Evaluate the organizational chain of command relative to the handling of investigators responsibilities including the coordination of
overlapping jurisdictions.

5. Examine the chain of evidence process to ensure proper in-court identification.
