C. Introduction

In this book we will learn the next step of structure or grammar. It has 12 part,
which is in every part discuss a different things. Such as, Present simple VS Present
continuous tense, and vocabulary about furniture. It has many image that can help us to
understand the lessons in everypart. It also has listening section so we can also increase
our listening skill. In grammar corner, we can see which grammar that we use in every
chapter. This book now if we just learn about the grammar structure sometimes we can
get bored. So, in this book there is also games to increase our speaking in public and
make us arrange the structure grammar.
D. Advantages

The advantage of this book are :

1. This book contain so many grammar

2. In every chapter there is a listening section

3.There’s a game section in every part, so we don’t get bored and it increase our speaking
skills

4. in every part, we can see a story. We must read itand answer the question related to the
story, it increase our knowledge and speaking skills.

5. There are many illustration in the book, it make us interest instead of feeling bored.
E. Disadvantages

The Disadvantages of this book are :

1. Because the book is photocopied, the image in the book is black and white.

2. There are unclear typing in the book.

3. Some of the listening section doesn’t have cassette in it. So we can’t hear it.

4. Some Image also doesn’t look clear because the photocopied.

5. In this book the complete explanation is in the nd of the chapter so it makes us

difficult to see it.
F. Critical Book.

CHAPTER ONE

In this first chapter we will learn about present simple VS present continuous
tense, present continuous for future time. We also learn about new vocabulary about
furniture.

CRITIC :
(Page 4, Time expressions with in,on,at)
In this explanation, it should be more detail and make a frame so people will realize
there is an explanation about Time expression.

SUGGESTION :

Time Expression with in, on, and, at

We use the prepositios in, on, and at with time expressions :

In -- a month, a year, the morning, the afternoon.

On --a day
at -- a time, night, the weekend

CHAPTER TWO

In chapter two we will learn about comparative and superlative degree, vocabulary
about geographical features.

CRITIC :
( Page 8, Comparative and superlatives)
In this lesson, we will learn about comparatives and superlatives so it must be
much explanation about it. But as we can see in the book its only a short explanation
about it.
SUGGESTION :
COMPERATIVE ADJECTIVE

Comparative adjectives are used to compare differences between the two objects they modify
(larger, smaller, faster, higher). They are used in sentences where two nouns are compared, in
this pattern :

Noun (subject) + verb + comparative adjective + than + noun

(object).

SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES

Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of a
quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest). They are used in sentences where a
subject is compared to a group of objects.

Noun (subject) + verb + the + superlative adjective + noun

(object).

CHAPTER
CHAPTERTHREE
THREE

In this chapter we will learn about adverbs of degree, linking words, also although
and about.

CRITIC :
( Page 18, Linking words)
In this page we will discuss about linking words, in my opinion the explanation must be
complete and its better if we have an example of the question.
SUGGESTION :

example :
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE THAT INCORPORATES LINKING WORDS:

 I bought take-away because I was very hungry.

Without the use of linking words, the sentence/s will still make sense, however, it
does not look grammatically correct and your teacher will most likely perceive that as an
error. Without the word “because”, the sentence will look like this:

 I bought take-away. I was very hungry.

CHAPTER FOUR

In this chapter we will learn can, can’t, have to, and don’t have to also adjectives phrase.

CRITIC :
( Page 26, Express, expressing opinions)
In this page there is expressing opinions with completing the table with the expression from the
conversation. Its better if we make a material and ask them their opinion.
SUGGESTION :

Expressing Opinions
1. What is your opinion about education in Indonesia ?
2. In your opinion what is the biggest pollution in
Indonesia ?

Express your opinion about the question above.

CHAPTER FIVE

Critic :
(Page 32, part 8)
in this part we will work in pairs and describe what is happening in each picture, its better if we ask them
to arrange the picture.

Suggestion :

1. Complete the recipe with the words in the box. then match the instruction to the
pictures.

Peel slice,
Peel, slice grate pourpour,
grate, mix whisk boil fry roll
mix, whisk, boil,stirfry, roll, stir
CHAPTER SIX

CRITIC :
(Page 37, Part 4)
instead of circling the adjectives it is better if we made a scramble word and ask them to arrange it.

Suggestion :
2. Unscramble the sentences and discuss with a partner where you may find them.
a. Going to/he/Saturday/is/the shopping mall/on
b. The airport/him/will/at/linda/meet/noon/on
c. Out/take/I’ll/tomorrow/the trash
d. Borrow/I/may/that book/you/from
e. Off/please/the lights/turn

CHAPTER SEVEN

CRITIC :
( Page 46, If clauses)
in this page we will see the explanation about the if clause, it is better if we make a frame on it so it will
be more eye-catching.

Suggestion :

If clause Main clause

If + simple present simple present

If this thing happens that thing happens.

If you heat ice it melts.

If it rains the grass gets wet.

CHAPTER EIGHT
CRITIC :
(Page 52, part 9)
In part 9 we can see that we will discuss about a famous haunted hotel, I think its not a
good idea because it can scares people .

SUGGESTION ;
Instead of “ a famous haunted hotel” why don’t we Make “ the
most beautiful hotel in the world?” it can be a suggestion for someone
who’s searching for a hotel.

CHAPTER NINE

CRITIC :
(Page 26, Part 11)
In part 11 we can see that there’s a suggestion to write a profile of the successful contestant for
a TV magazine
SUGGESTION :
My suggestion is to change the task become write a
profile of the successful contestant and what makes
you adore him/her and ask them to tell a story
about it.

CHAPTER TEN
CRITIC :
(Page 70, Revision 5, No.10)
In the revision number 10 there is a question to complete the sentence with your own ideas. We
can see in the past Chapter there are so many question to express your ideas.

SUGGESTION :
Because there are many question about expressing your ideas I want to change it.

10.Please fix the Scrammble Word into a sentence

1. Had/ever/I/without/fasting/dawn.
2. Ever/don’t/Al-qur’an/without/read/wudhu/the.
3. Tell/me/if/you/make/sins/never/any.
4. Sad/be/don’t/please/allah/cause/sleep/never.
5. Has/never/Mariam/interested/Islamic/education/about/feel

CHAPTER ELEVEN
CRITIC :
(Page 73, Part 2)
In chapter Eleven we discuss about the best days of your life, but in the part 2 I think it’s not
suitable with the context of the chapter.

SUGGESTION :

4. Look at the pictures and write your opinion about this hobbies and discuss
with your partner which hobbies is the best hobbies of your life.

CHAPTER TWELVE

CRITIC :
(Page 74, Say and Tell)
In this explanation, it should be more detail and make a frame so people will realize
there is an explanation about Time Say and Tell.

SUGGESTION :

Say and Tell

After Say and tell + object
you don’t need to say that :
Marry said she was worried.
Mary told me she was Worried.
