ANSYS PROCEDURE

1. Go to main menu select preference and select structural.


2. Go to pre-processor select material props-go to material library-
select units-select SI (MKS)-ok.
3. Go to pre-processor select element type-add/edit/delete-add-solid-
Tet 10 node 187-ok-close.
4. Go to pre-processor select material props-material models-
structural-linear-elastic-isotropic-enter the value for young’s
modulus Ex-2.1E11-enter the value of Poisson ratio PRXY-0.3-ok-
density-enter the value of the density of the material -7830-ok-exit
5. Go to pre-processor-modelling-create-volumes-cylinder-solid
cylinder-radius-0.008-depth-0.01-ok-hallow cylinder-outer radius-
0.008-inner radius-0.04-depth-0.01-ok.
6. Go to workplane select WP settings-snap incr-0.01-ok.
7. Go to workplane select offset WP by increments-+Z-ok.
8. Go to pre-processor-modelling-create-volumes-cylinder-solid
cylinder-radius-0.01-depth-0.4-ok.
9. Go to workplane select WP settings-snap incr-0.01-ok.
10. Go to workplane select offset WP by increments-(+Z)-ok
11. Go to pre-processor-modelling-create-volumes-cylinder-solid
cylinder-radius-0.008-depth-0.01-ok-hallow cylinder-outer radius-
0.008-inner radius-0.04-depth-0.01-ok.
12. Go to workplane select WP settings-snap incr-0.2-ok.
13. Go to workplane select offset WP by increments-(-Z)-ok.
14. Go to workplane select WP settings-snap incr-0.003-ok.
15. Go to workplane select offset WP by increments-(+Y)-ok.
16. Go to workplane select offset WP by increments-(-X)-ok.
17. Go to pre-processor-modelling-create-block-by 2corner & z-
width-0.2-heigth-0.2-depth-0.001-ok.
18. Go to pre-processor-modelling-operate-booleans- subtract-
volume-select the shaft-ok-select the rectangle box-ok-then the
rectangle is subtracted from the shaft and the two mm crack is
formed.
19. Go to pre-processor-modelling-operate-booleans-add-volumes-
select the volumes to be added-ok
20. Go to pre-processor-meshing-mesh tool-smart size-5-click
mesh-select the volume to be meshed-ok.
21. Go to pre-processor-modelling-create-contact pair-contact
wizard-pick target-select the two surfaces of the shaft at which
bearing is placed-ok-next-pick contact-select the two inner surfaces
of the bearing-ok-next-coefficient of friction-0.02-create-same
procedure is followed for the another bearing also.
22. Go to pre-processor-loads-define load-apply-structural-
displacement-on area-select the outer surface of the two bearings-
ok-all dof-displacement value-0-ok
23. Go to pre-processor-loads-define load-apply-structural-interia-
angular velocity-global-(z-comp)-20-ok.
24. Go to solution-analysis type-new analysis-harmonic-ok-analysis
options-ok-sparse solver-ok.
25. Go to pre-processor-solution-load step opts-time/frequenc-freq
and subsets-harmonic range-0 to 500-no.of subsets-10-stepped-ok.
26. Go to pre-processor-solution-current L S-ok.
