2. Charged Words: While it may be difficult to do at times, I ask that you
think about the words you use before you speak. We must keep in mind that It is your responsibility to find out what work you missed
while something may not offend us, it could be hurtful to others. This is while you were out. I will not chase you to turn in

periods that may use derogatory or offensive words. • Refer to NHS Student Handbook regarding the policy

ideas. Failure is an opportunity to learn. Step outside of your comfort zone!
4. Plagiarism: I take issues of cheating and plagiarism very seriously. If a student is found cheating or using work belonging to
someone else, the student(s) will receive a zero for that assignment. Further disciplinary action will be taken depending on the
severity of the situation.
5. Cell Phone Use: I do not tolerate the unauthorized use of cell phones during class time. If you need to use your phone, for
whatever reason, ask me FIRST. As soon as you enter the classroom, your headphones should be out and your phones should be
put into the designated spot in the clear cell phone holder at the front of the classroom. Failure to do so will result in being sent to
the Deans.
6. Bathroom Use: Each student will receive THREE bathroom passes per term. You may only use the bathroom, get a drink of
water, go to your locker, or leave the classroom during instruction time if you have a bathroom pass to use. Be sure to hold on to
these and keep them in a safe place, because once they are issued to each student at the beginning of the term, I will not reissue a
new set if they are lost.
*For students who do not use ANY of their bathroom passes and still have all three at the end of the term, they may be
turned in for 2 extra points to your class average.
7. Behavioral Policy: NHS believes that all students have a right to learn to the best of their individual abilities, and our goal is to
create an environment where that is possible and attainable. Anything that interferes with another student’s ability to learn is NOT
acceptable and will not be tolerated. Therefore, respect the ideas of others, encourage your peers, listen and be engaged with the
speaker, and be prepared for class with a positive attitude each day.
