ATTENTION EWING RESIDENTS
NEW TRASH REGULATIONS • EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2010

As a result of new recycling and storm water laws and regulations and in an effort to more efficiently pick up waste, the following new rules
will be in force effective October 1, 2010

REGULAR GARBAGE Will continue to be picked up twice per week (Mon/Thurs or Tues/Fri.). No collection on Holidays.

BULK ITEMS Bulk items (no more than 4 per pickup) will be picked up on Regular Collection Days. Bulk includes:
Appliances, furniture and other items that are too big for a suitable container. Appliances containing Freon must
have the Freon removed professionally with verification with the item.
Building and similar materials must be bundled in 4 foot sections weighing no more than 40 pounds.

GRASS CLIPPINGS Clippings will be picked up one last time in early October. Grass clippings may not be mixed into leaves and or
brush and must be placed in biodegradable bags or cans, not to exceed 40lbs. After the last pick-up of grass,
clippings can be taken to the drop off site located on Jack Stephan Way.

LEAVES Bulk or loose leaves will only be picked up during scheduled leaf pickup dates (see reverse side for your
scheduled pickup). Leaves cannot be loose on the curb until 7 days before the scheduled leaf pickup.
Do not mix leaves with brush, grass clippings or other vegetative materials.
Keep leaves at least 10 feet from all storm drains.
Leaves that are bagged must be in biodegradable paper bags and will be picked up on Wednesdays only.

BRUSH/BRANCHES Brush/branches will not be picked up between October 25 and December 17 to permit bulk leaf pickup.
Brush/branches will be picked up the rest of the year but must be bundled or tied in 4 foot sections with no branch
exceeding 3 inches in diameter. DO NOT PUT BRUSH INTO BAGS OR CANS.

LEAF DROPOFF NEW!!! RESIDENTS may and CONTRACTORS (serving Ewing residents) must drop off loose leaves at the
following staging areas between October 25 and December 17:
BANCHOFF PARK • ARMSTRONG PARK • JACK STEPHAN WAY (Naval Center)

BRUSH DROPOFF NEW!!! RESIDENTS and CONTRACTORS of Ewing Residents can drop off brush, including brush that does
not qualify for curbside pickup (branches and logs in excess of 3 inches diameter) at Jack Stephan Way on
Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. ALL YEAR LONG.

ELECTRONICS Electronic products including computers, CRT’s and printers can be dropped off at the Recreation Building at
Chief William C. Forst Way (La Motta Field) during regular business hours.

CONTRACTORS NO CONTRACTOR GENERATED WASTE (GARBAGE, LEAVES, BRUSH, ETC.)


IS PERMITTED TO BE PLACED ON THE CURB.

LEAF BAGS FREE!!! Biodegradable leaf bags are available at the Ewing Senior & Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road
during regular business hours. Residents can pick up to 10 per visit.

CONCRETE/EXCESS Concrete, bituminous products, asphalt and items that exceed size or quantity limitations may be picked up for a
fee by the Township. Contact the Public Works Department at 882-3382 for more information.

It is the hope that all Ewing residents conform to the above regulations for two reasons: First, the more we recycle the less we spend in
disposal fees and the more sustainable our environment. Second, we are hoping to keep our streets free from debris and provide a safer and
cleaner community.
