1.1 Introduction

1 This internship report is at Bank Dubai Islamic Limited. I did an internship at the
Bank · Dubai · Islamic · Kotla · Arab · Kahn branch (Gujrat district).
2 The basic purpose of the internship is not only to investigate and analyze Bank,
Dubai, Islamic Limited but also to gain experience on the ground. The main purpose
of the internship is to fulfill the department's requirements concerning the awards of
the Bachelor of Business in Gujrat University. The second purpose of the internship is
to apply classroom lectures in a professional life where students can become good
future bankers.

 Bank Dubai Islamic branch is in our area, I easily reached in bank daily during
internship period.

2.1 Introduction to Bank Dubai Islamic Limited

2.1.1 History of Bank Dubai Islamic Limited

Dubai Islamic Bank was established in 1975, it is the first Islamic bank to fully introduce
Islamic fundamentalism, is a major Islamic bank UAE. DIB is a public company, its
stock is listed on the Dubai Financial Market. We are, I believe the quality of products
and services, resilience, our reputation as a leader and innovator to maintain proud
convenience. Currently, the UAE has 90 branches.
DIBPL, founded in Pakistan May 27, 2005 in Pakistan in 1984, was carried out the
activities of Islamic commercial banks in accordance with the principles of Islamic
Sharia. Pakistan SBP state banks, after the granting of a license for the Bank on
November 26, 2005, it received a certificate to commence business by the Securities and
Exchange Commission of Pakistan SECP 11 January 26, 2006. The Islamic commercial
banks has been launched March 28, 2006

 Accounting Opening Department


 It is the principal and fundamental department of any bank, even for this bank, it
is an important department whose objective is to provide a bank account that is
offered to customers It is easy for anyone who wants to open a bank account to
access it.This department can open or close the necessary customers' In general,
the accounts provided by the bank are as follows
 Individual account
 Partnership account
 Company account
 The source of financial banks is people's deposits. All banks are executed by the
amount deposited by people so as to open accounts. Banks can not exist without
this division. This is the principle of banking activities. For this amount, the bank
is investing in another company to gain profit after that. Banks provide customers
with several returns to cash deposits in the form of interest rates.
 When an arbitrary customer wants to open an account. All requirements must be
met. A copy of CNIC is required. The company is filled by customers, for

example, with all information filled and how much quantity you want to deposit
etc. the type of address, type of account,

 Cash Department
Cash department is that department in which receipts and payments are deal. The most
risky job in any bank is to work in cash department because they should be record of cash
even one rupee. It means balance is maintained and if balance is not equal as it should be;
then employee is responsible of that mistake. Requirements to work in this department
are; have to careful, capable and alert every time when doing cash transaction. Anyway
this is backbone of all departments in any bank.
The basic tasks of this department are to:
 Cash receipts from customers and payment to customer.
 Accept the checks and pay amount.
 Before paying amount it should be checked that the amount is available in the
account of that customer if the amount is less than required or not having amount
in account that check is dishonored.
 Maintain the record of all cash transactions.
 Any other duty which is assigned by branch manager has to fulfill.

Clearing Department
The function of this department is the transfer of funds. Transfer of funds can be made
between the same branch of the bank or between different banks. The function of this
department is to organize the recovery of bank checks. However, in the traditional
banking system, the bankers is not a legal requirement to collect a check of other banks
went in for the customer.
However, today's banking system development through modern banking has made it
easier to collect checks and invoices on behalf of customers.

The banks collect checks for customers withdrawn to different banks. This function of
clearing customers' checks by banks is done for installments by settlement institutions of
State Bank of Pakistan. In cities that do not cover the scope of SBP, this liquidation is
regulated by the National Pakistan Bank.

Inward Clearing

The function of this department is to transfer of money from one country to

remittance to its customers. Amount can be sent in account or on CNIC number of
a family. the amount is reached within 24 hours from foreign country to Pakistan.
Customer provide a code to banker and he checks the amount, in case of arrival
of amount; a form is printed and signature are made on this and it is sent to cash
department for cash payment.
Credit Department

important activities of the bank is to provide loans to people who are engaged in
legitimate company or business. This is because this activity is considered very important
in considering the potential to generate revenue for the bank. If confirmed pursuit and
stand, at the sector level, they will be able to borrow from the headquarters of Dubai
Islamic Bank in Karachi. Credit of two types have been provided by the bank. Dubai

Funded Credit Line

Trade Finance Department

This sector is, to control the types of operations to be carried out


beyond the confines of the family. Any business, which is the import
and export trade, it becomes easier with the help of this department.
To buy things from a different country now, LC is used. LC is a safe
way to make payments to people living in other countries. What is
important is that the LC was issued against securities (real estate, lien,
actions, etc.). After you have confirmed these titles, the credit is

Accounts Department

This particular sector is the rear part of the organization, but will run a list of very
important functions. These features include the generation of the following types

The function of this department is to sell banking products and services in a

personal, you can open an account at our bank branches.

CHAPTER-3 Internees work:


3.1 Brief introduction of the Internship Branch
This particular branch of Bank, Dubai and Islam is located in Kotla Arab Ali khan.
According to the Bank of Dubai Islamic Planning Department of Pakistan, the branch
located in the central area of Retail & Middle Market. This branch was established to
gain market share about five years ago and to benefit from the huge customer base
market at Kotla Arab Ali khan. Because many of the commercial banks had already
exists in this field, bank, Dubai, Islam of the officers was to immediately open a branch.
This branch, began operations in the minimum number of departments. The idea is to
penetrate the market, it has been gaining market share in the goodwill. Therefore,
according to sources of information within the bank branch, effectively they reached the
target, there are plans to increase the number of employees of large and branch offices.
Since the restructuring is proceeding immediately, it seems that the truth of the branch
management. New offices and clients, was created in order to respond to potential
customers and their needs.
3.2 Supervisor Information:
The name of my supervisor was Muhammad Tahir Imran. He is very kind person.
He is doing job in this branch from 4 year. He did MBA 3.5(Marketing) from
university if punjab lahore. He guided me properly that what I have to do and
how. He gave me lectures on my work or task which I did. Whenever I face any

3.3 Internship in my line of business

I was working in all sectors of the branch. The first day of my internship, the
boss, he told me about the rules and the fundamental role of the employees and
the care that was limited to Dubai Islamic Bank. I was very excited to be truly
able to work effectively in any bank. So, he is for me to introduce a bank
employee, told me the basics of this branch. He told me that the work day by
day, which must be during the internship period to me. Activities that did my
internship is as follows.

Training Program:
I started my work in the account opening department at the bank. This exactingsector
comes under the common banking services provided by the bank. I was told that five
different kinds of accounts which can be opened at Dubai Islamic Bank Kotla Arab Ali
khan. Those accounts which are told to me at that times are followings:
 Current account opening
 Saving account or fixed deposit account opening
 Profit and loss sharing account
 Dubai Islamic Basic Account
 Business Account at Dubai Islamic Bank
The process of all of these various account are following under the Products Line of
Dubai Islamic Bank of that report. At the present the basic requirements for opening an
account are as follow.

This department is liable for generate the Bank declaration which reveal the account
activity of any account. In order to get the bank statement the account owner has to come
and fill a form. Some people are called at the bank and inquired their account balance.
Normally such query is not amused over the telephone unless the bank's agent knows the
person calling is the account holder and not someone else. Such information’s are not
revealed to anyone else except for the account holder. The bank officers can ask question
like the person's date of birth, his get in touch with numbers, current residential address
and the address mentioned in the account information to make sure that the person calling
is genuine and not someone else trying to get the economic information.

If account owners want the expenditure on the check he issued to be stopped then he has
to contact this particular department of the bank. The person can inform the bank about a
particular check number on which he desires to stop the payment. In such way no
payment is done next to the check as quickly as the department is informed. in addition
assume a person has loss his check book then he can inform the bank to stop the
payments on all the checks numbers from the check book that was issued to him. This

3.3.2 My Activities in the Account Opening Department


This is a major and basic department of any bank. For this bank it is also an important
department. Purpose of it is to open any bank account which is offered to customers. Any
customer who wants to open an account in bank can easily access. This department have
responsibility to open and close any account of a customer which is required. Generally
followings are the accounts which are offered by bank.
Individual account, Partnership account, Company account

Bank’s source of finance is deposits of people. Every bank runs by amounts which are
deposited by people as to open an account. A bank cannot exist without this department.
This is principle activity of a bank. This amount then invested by bank in other
businesses to earn profit. Bank gives some return on cash deposit to customer in shape of
interest.
When any customer wants to open an account; all requirements have to fulfill. A CNIC
copy is required. A firm is filled by customer on which all information are filled, e.g.
name, address, type of account, how much amount you want to deposit etc.
Besides this the department is responsible for customer quires, check clearness, maintain
all data of customers, printing of statements, accept request to open the account, NADRA
verification online, issuances of check book and ATM cards etc.

After found all the required information I was asked to instrument the role of an account
opening officer and deal with another official who was playing the role of a customer
already in branch. I taxed my best to respond all the questions asked by the customer and
guide him in the best way I could about the account opening process in the bank. My
performance was rated as good by the account opening officer.

At a next phase I helped a customer to organize the required documents for account
opening and even showed him fill out the form as it was to be filled in English language.

I also gave information about the benefits to open different accounts in Dubai Islamic
bank limited to some existing customers as well to potential customers of the branch as
well.

3.3.3 My work in Clearing Department

However, in the development of the banking system today through modern banking, it
makes it easy to recover on behalf of the customer checks and invoices.

I was working in that department. I was informed about the monitoring of the liquidation
process, which received every day for the bank. The important thing to note is that the
liquidation process was carried through the air lock of Pakistan National Bank. National

3.3.4 My work in Remittance Department:

3.3.6 My Activities in the Accounts Department
I assist the administrator of this department while sorting all the utility bills of the office

branches was also carried out by me with the help/ direction of the officer. I on a regular
basis used to carry documents that were to be approved by the branch manager, once he
sign them I brought them back to the officer of the accounts department. Ilearned many
things in this.

A view of my activities on these departments:

 I help the director of this department, to order any office public office file. All
the good of all areas of activity of the branch category was also run by me
with the help and the official instructions. I carried around a document that
has been approved by the normal branch manager, but since then signing, was
returned to the official in the accounting department. This has been found to
many things.

My opinion activity in these categories:

• The timing of my work, from 9 am to 5 pm, it was five days a week.

• All staff are guided by me good manners, it was to thank all the staff.

• because it is insufficient to understand the work and the organization's


overall policy in six weeks, had been working in a well can the industry in a
short period of time.

of staff, had learned work also contribute to other personnel.

• In cash department, but I worked very carefully, I have some of


the restrictions on their activities. Usually, it is not a full-time staff
from their bank, while working in the bank will be imposed on all
servers.

• Ensure that the branch manager meets a certain number of


customers, when you try to convince you to open a bank account,
is a very difficult job to increase the number of clients per day. To
increase the number of customers, there is a competition between
them. When you hire a new employee, which is why it is able to
motivate people of our bank branches for the new branch is
selected.

• I was working in the credit department. It is basically a loan


offered department. And 'the most important and important area
for banks. As when there is the need for the customer to get a loan.
Purposes or other commercial purposes, if there is eligible to
receive a loan in accordance with the rules and regulations of the
bank, you can get a loan from the bank.
