Call for Paper and Mechanics of Paper Presentation


1. Call for Paper

1.1 The Conference invites the PICPA Regions and chapters to send their representatives
for both the Professional Track (CPAs) and Student Track (BSA students). Research
papers of CPAs and BSA students shall be accepted if they are within the scope of the
Accountancy profession and/or if they are within the following themes: Financial
Accounting and Reporting; Management Accounting and Control; Assurance and
Audit; Taxation; Accountancy Education; and Financial Management. The context of
the study can be private business, government, or nonprofit organizations.

2. General Guidelines

2.1 The paper presentation is open to all CPAs and B.S. Accountancy students in their
fourth or fifth year in any Philippine college or university.
2.2 The paper presentation shall be in two categories: Category A – Professional Track (for
CPAs) and Category B – Student Track (for B.S.A. Students).
2.3 The paper for presentation in Category A, must be a research completed by a CPA,
either individually or in collaboration with another individual. In the latter case, the
CPA(s) shall be the presenter(s). For Category B, the paper must be a research
completed either individually or by a team of not more than five students as defined
in 2.1 above.
2.4 For both categories, the research must have been conducted not earlier than January
1, 2016.
2.5 The paper must be original and has not been previously published.

3. Guide for Submission and Acceptance

3.1 Submission of papers shall be thru the PICPA Regions. Each region is allowed to submit
three (3) research papers for each track. The interested presenter shall seek an
endorsement letter from the PICPA Regional Director indicating that the paper is the
region’s representative.
3.2 Submission to the Research Committee may be done by the Regional Director or
directly by the presenter, together with the endorsement letter of the Regional
Director.
3.3 Interested parties should submit online the whole paper on or before October 31,
2018. The paper shall contain an abstract containing a maximum of 250 words and 5
key words, together with the following information of the researcher(s): name,
position and name of company/school, e-mail address, and mobile number.

3.4 An individual is allowed to submit only one research paper.
3.5 Acceptance of the paper shall be the basis for the inclusion in the Research
Conference.
3.6 Qualified paper presenters would be notified on or before November 15, 2018.
3.7 Accepted papers shall be presented on December 6, 2018 during the PICPA National
Accountancy Research Conference.
3.8 Qualified presenters should submit three (3) hard copies of the whole paper and the
power point slides on or before November 30, 2018 at this address:

4. Presentation Rules

4.1 Presentation shall be done by the individual researcher or by members of the research
team. In case, the presentation is done by a team, the maximum number of team
members allowed is five.
4.2 The individual researcher or the team will be given 25 minutes to present the paper.
Another 15 minutes will be allotted for questions and answers from the Research
Panel and the audience.
4.3 All presenters must be registered participants of the Research Conference.
4.4 Only those who have paid all the required fees will be allowed to present the paper.
4.5 In case of a research team, only the registered member shall be given the Certificate
of Recognition.

5. Research Awards

5.1 Two awards will be presented for each Category: Best Research Paper and Best Paper
Presentation.
5.2 For each award, there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
5.3 All presenters will be given a Certificate of Recognition. Members of a research team
who are registered participants will also be given the Certificate, even if he/she is not
doing the presentation.
5.4 Winners will be announced during the awarding ceremonies of the National
Accountancy Research Conference.

6. Research Paper Submission

6.1 The research paper should adhere to the following requirements:

A. Paper size: 8.5 by 11


B. Font style : Arial
C. Font size: 12
D. Spacing : Single
E. Margin: 1 inch on all sides.

6.2 The paper shall have the following headings:

Title
Author(s)
E-mail address
Mobile Number
Institution
Address

6.3 The following parts of the paper are suggested:

ABSTRACT, followed by the key words


BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY, emphasizing the (a) research gap being addressed; and
(b) the significant contributions of the study
FRAMEWORK AND METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
REFERENCES

6.4 The paper should adhere to the following writing guidelines:

a. The maximum number of pages for the whole paper is 12.


b. First Level Headings containing the parts of the paper enumerated above should
be in UPPER CASE. The subsequent headings should have each word capitalized
and in bold.
c. All paragraphs must be justified with two spaces between them.
d. Acronyms or unfamiliar abbreviations should be spelled out when these are
mentioned for the first time in the text.
e. Endnotes should be used instead of footnotes.
f. Numbers should be spelled out when they are used to start a sentence.
g. Tables and figures should be numbered and should appear immediately after they
have been mentioned in the text. Titles of tables and figures should be written on
their top and centered.

h. Use APA style in the Reference (author/s, year published, title of book or article,
printing press, and place of publication). Only those mentioned in the text should
be included in the References.

7. Registration Fee

7.1 The research conference is open to the public.


7.2 Registration fee is P2,000 per person.
7.3 Paper presentation fee for both CPAs and students is P2,000 per paper.
