Body
When undertake a project, it is important to ensure that everybody involved understands what
part they have to play and what is required of them. It is also important that everybody under-
stands who will report to whom and how decisions will be made. Finally, it is of vital importance
that you know what resources are available to you and the consequences if you reach those
resource limits.
This is particularly important with a group project. Before the project work commences, each
member of the team will need to know exactly what they are working on and what are their
required tasks and targets. This can involve who is responsible for decision-making, holding
meetings and keeping records. If you are undertaking an individual project, there are still
responsibilities to be determined, although these are likely to be negotiated between you and the
project supervisor and/or employer.
Activity 3.12
Make a list of all the people who might be involved in your project. Next to each name, indicate
how you will communicate with them as your project progresses. Do you need to communicate
with each person on a one-to-one basis or would group meetings/presentations be more
appropriate?
