Creating a Multi Level Calibration Table

GC, LC, CE and A/D ChemStation, Revision A.05.0x - A.08.0x

Load method for calibration table creation

1. If not already displayed, pull down the View menu and select Method &
RunControl

2. Pull down the Method menu and select Load Method

3. Select desired Method and click OK on the display window

Load the data file of the LEVEL 1 STANDARD injection

1. Pull down the View menu and select Data Analysis

2. Pull down the File and select Load Signal

3. Select the data file of your standard injection

4. If all signals in the data file are not required for processing the calibration table

♦ Select the Full >> button on the Load Signal window


♦ Select the signals to be loaded in the Signal Information / Signals section:
<click> - single selection, <ctrl><click> for multiple selections

5. Enable Integrate After Signal Load in Signal Options


6. Select OK

Create the new calibration table

1. Pull down the Calibration menu and select New Calibration Table

2. Enable Automatic Setup

3. Leave the level default set to “1”

4. If desired, enter the default amount (the default amount is automatically posted to
the Amt field of each Integrated peak found in the data file)

5. Select the OK button on the display window

Enter Compound Information

1. On the line containing the compound enter the following:

♦ Compound name in the Compound column


♦ Amount for this compound in the Amt column
♦ If the peak is a reference peak, select Yes in the Ref column
♦ If the compound is an internal standard, select Yes in the ISTD column and enter
a designation of 1 in the I# column

2. Accept the entered information by selecting the Enter button on the display window

3. Repeat above steps for all peaks of interest

Remove unwanted peaks from the calibration table

1. Select the peak to be removed by positioning the mouse cursor to the left (what
actually looks outside of the calibration table itself) of the “#” column (mouse cursor
changes to solid black arrow pointing to the right) and then <click> (the entire line
will highlight)

2. Select the Delete button on the display window

3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 for all remaining unwanted peaks in the calibration table

4. Select the OK button on the display window

Load the data file of Level “2” STANDARD injections

1. Pull down the File and select Load Signal

2. Select the data file of your standard injection

3. If all signals in the data file are not required for processing the calibration table

♦ Select the Full >> button on the Load Signal window


♦ Select the signals to be loaded in the Signal Information / Signals section:
<click> - single selection, <ctrl><click> for multiple selections

4. Enable Integrate After Signal Load

5. Select the OK button on the display window

Add LEVEL 2 To Calibration Table

1. Pull down the Calibration menu and select Add Level

2. Enter the default level information If not set, change level number to “2”
If desired, enter default amount (the default amount is automatically posted to the
Amt field of each Integrated peak found in the data file)

3. Select the OK button on the display window

Enter the standard information for each LEVEL 2 peak

1. Select the line containing the peak and enter the amount for this level of compound
in the Amt column

2. Repeat the above step for all remaining peaks

Repeat steps for “Load the data file of Level “2” STANDARD injection” and “Add
LEVEL 2 To Calibration Table” sections, replacing the “2” with the appropriate
LEVEL number.
Save the Method

1. Accept the newly created calibration table by selecting the OK button the display
window

2. Pull down the File menu and select Save As and then Method

3. Enter a new name, or accept the current name for the Method, and select OK
