Differentiation
Tiered Readiness Students with different math ability are asked to
Assignments solve word problems. Advance students symbolically
represent word problems. Average students are given
cues. Below averaged students use manipulative and
draw pictures to solve problems.
Compacting Readiness Students that are able to divide will not engage in
direct instruction during a lesson taught on that
particular skill instead those students may engage in
enrichment small group or individualized activities
and solve some challenging word problems involving
the operation of division.
Interest Groups or Interest For a book report, students are grouped according to a
Interest Center particular book they want to read. Or students are
group according to the same topic they wish to write
about.
Readiness Students will visit writing centers to engage in
different skills based on their weakness.
Choice Boards Readiness Interest After students are taught the concept of writing
descriptive essays. Students are presenting with a list
Learning of topics to choose from. Students work in groups
Profile/Learning based on topics.
Style Reading Log- After students have read the story,
teacher offers students ways of completing their
journal entry: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile.
Students may record, write or draw their journal
entry. Student visit various centers to work on their
assignments
Learning Readiness The student identifies what topic for the Math SBA
Contracts he or she will be completing. The students decides
Learning Profile how the task will be carried out and presented.
Teacher aids the student as to how to achieve the
goal.
