To whomever it may concern,

This letter is a referral for Nicole Nikonetz, who spent five weeks in my classroom in
November and December of 2017 as a Professional Semester I student.

Before Nicole even arrived at the school, she made sure that she contacted me and
forwarded her e-portfolio for me to look at and give her feedback. It was clear that she took her
job very seriously, and was well prepared. Her e-portfolio was extensive, thorough, and detailed.
I was very impressed with the quality of her preparation before I met her.

When she was in my classroom, she was eager and enthusiastic. Her lessons
demonstrated a strong understanding of the content material. More importantly, however, was
her willingness to be creative. She wasn’t scared to try something new, and her lessons showed
that. She was not afraid to make mistakes, and the students loved trying all the new ideas and
activities that she was able to come up with. I was also impressed with her willingness to take
on extra. Nicole was constantly asking to do more, and would have taught all day for the entire
practicum if I would have let her. That enthusiasm is going to serve her well as she continues in
her teaching career.

Nicole also did an admirable job building relationships with students. She would go out
of her way to ask the students questions, and tried to engage them on a regular basis. In five
short weeks, she made an indelible impression on my students, and they thoroughly enjoyed
their time with her. She also took time out of her busy schedule to attend our Christmas concert,
which the students really appreciated.

I am certain that as Nicole becomes more experienced and continues through the
education program, she will be an excellent teacher. She has the enthusiasm and heart for it,
and the improvements she needs can only come with experience. I have no doubt that when
she graduates, she will be a terrific teacher and well worth hiring.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Van Dyk
