Quick guide to installing the diagnostic software
This quick guide provides assistance when installing the MAN-cats® III testing and
diagnostic software and starting up the MAN vehicle communication interface T200.
NOTE
The following prerequisites must be met prior to installation:
• In accordance with the hardware and
software requirements, a computer is
available (see EU hardware require-
ments and/or MAN-cats® III user
manual)
• When using the SmartCard to repro-
gram control units, an internal or
external SmartCard reader/writer
must be available
• The Windows user you are intending
to involve in the MAN-cats® III installa-
tion has administrator rights on what

Install MAN-cats® III testing and diagnostic software

By performing the following steps, you will install the MAN-cats® III testing and diagnostic
software via download from the MAN After Sales Portal. The testing and diagnostic software
can be installed free of charge.

In order to use the testing and diagnostic software, you must then purchase validity rights
in the Web-Shop on the MAN After Sales Portal (see quick guide to SmartCard Basic & Trust
validity rights or quick guide to Online Basic validity rights).

Please note that the installation of the MAN-cats® III software via the MAN After Sales Portal
will take a certain amount of time in accordance with the volume of data and the quality of
the Internet connection.

In order to access the web page with

the MAN-cats® III software, click
• the "Diagnostic" tab,
• the "MAN-cats® applications" menu
item and
• the "MAN-cats® software" link

Select the quick link " MAN-cats® III instal-

lation" on the right of the screen to begin
installing the testing and diagnostic
software.

In the Java security warning, select the

checkbox "No longer display for applica-
tions from this provider and from this
storage location" to avoid seeing this
notification in future.

Press the "Execute" button to

acknowledge the security warning.

Note: The appearance of the safety warn-

ing may vary depending on the version
of Java you have installed.

In the Windows Security Alert regarding

Windows Firewall, ensure that the check-
box for "Private networks …" is activated
and the checkbox for "Public networks …."
is deactivated.

Click the "Allow access" button to pro-

ceed.

NOTE
If you are uncertain about your firewall settings, contact the IT manager at your company.
The frequency of the displayed safety notes depends on your Windows Firewall settings.
They may be displayed on multiple occasions during the installation process.

In the list of available languages, select

the desired language by clicking the
corresponding button.

Read the software licence agreement

and confirm by clicking "I accept the terms
of the licence agreement" in order to pro-
ceed with the installation.

Accept the default installation and down-

load directories by clicking the "OK"
button.

The download of the required files is

started.

You can follow the download progress

via the MAN-cats® III installer.

Start the installation procedure for

the downloaded software packages
by clicking the "OK" button.

During the installation procedure, a

Windows notification appears regarding
user account management. Click "Yes"
to acknowledge this notification.

You must restart the computer after

installing the software packages.

After the computer has been restarted,

the MAN-cats® III testing and diagnostic
software is started automatically and
various diagnostic packages are
subsequently installed.

The installation is completed when the

MAN-cats® III login screen is displayed.

Start-up of the MAN vehicle communication interface (VCI) T200

The following steps provide assistance in starting up the MAN vehicle communication inter-
face (VCI) T200.

Connect your MAN VCI T200 to the

diagnostic socket of a vehicle and wait
until the ready indicator is permanently
illuminated.

Connect the MAN VCI T200 to your

computer using a network cable and
wait until the LED with the computer
symbol is permanently illuminated.

Start the MAN-cats® III VCI Manager

by clicking the green "VCI" button.

Press the "Start" button to start the VCI

application.

To make adjustments to the language

settings for the VCI application, where
applicable, click the "Options" button
and select the desired setting under
"Language".

Acknowledge the setting you have imple-

mented by clicking the "OK" button.

Double-click the MAN VCI T200 displayed

under "Available VCIs and connection
status" to connect it to the computer.

Click the "Setup assistant" button to

proceed.

NOTE
Under "Version specifications and settings", check the firmware specifications for the
computer and the MAN VCI T200. If there are any differences, perform an update by
clicking the "Firmware update" button where applicable.

Select the wireless connection to the

MAN VCI T200 by clicking the "Wireless
interface" image.

Please note the content of the notification

window that now appears, then click
"Next" to proceed.

Select your MAN VCI T200 in the list

and confirm your selection by clicking
the "Next" button.

Click "Next" to accept the default network

settings.

Assign a password in order to secure the

WLAN settings. Accept the other settings,
then click "Next".

Please note the content of the subsequent

notification window, then click "Next" to
proceed.

NOTE
The assigned password merely acts as a pairing key between the computer and the MAN
VCI T200. In the event of loss, the password can be reassigned at any time.
When selecting the WLAN channels, please note that channel 14 is not available in Europe
(channel 12, 13, 14 in the USA). The country-specific regulations and laws apply.

As required, remove the network cable

between the computer and the MAN VCI
T200, then press "Next".

Acknowledge the success message by

clicking "Next" and click "Close" to close
the setup assistant.

Click the grey area of the MAN VCI T200

being displayed in order to update the
settings.

When the connection between the

computer and the MAN VCI T200 is
established, the background colour
changes from grey to green.

Close the VCI Manager by clicking the

green confirmation button and complete
the start-up.

Your MAN-cats® III testing and diagnostic system is now ready for operation.

As your testing and diagnostic system will be updated automatically in future, you must
connect your testing and diagnostic system to the Internet at regular intervals.
