cyberbullying prevention

Digital best practices information sheet aligned with ISTE-s and ISTE-T Standards

Cyberbullying is best defined as: “willful and repeated harm inflicted through the use
of computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices”. As cyberbullying is
increasing due to the high usage of technology, it is essential to raise awareness of
the negative impact.

Those who are victimized by cyberbullying are often afraid or too embarrassed to
speak about it. Bullies may not recognize the serious harm they are causing due to
the silence of the victim. Serious harm includes low self-esteem, family problems,
academic difficulties, school violence, and delinquent behaviors. Cyberbullying is one
problem that will only get more serious if ignored (Sameer, H., Patchin, J.W.).
