W-CDMA

 Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, one of two 3G

standards that makes use of a wider spectrum than
CDMA and therefore can transmit and receive
information for faster and more efficiently. Co-
developed by NTT DoCoMo, it is being backed by most
European mobile operators and is expected to compete
with cdma2000 to be the de facto 3G standard.

generation standard offered to the International
Telecommunication Union by GSM proponents.

defined with 5 MHz channels and 3.84 MHz carrier
signals

 A third generation technology for wideband digital radio
communications in Internet, multimedia, video, and
other capacity-demanding applications at an expected
maximum data rate of two Mbps.

 The 3G transmission standard used for UMTS, the
successor to GSM. It uses DSSS to provide code vision
multiple access with a bandwidth of 5 MHz.

 Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA),
also known as IMT-2000, is a 3rd generation wireless
technology. Supports speeds up to 384Kbps on a wide-
area network, or 2Mbps locally.

 Wideband Code Division Multiple Access. Third-
generation wireless access protocol that uses a wider
channel band (5 MHz) to increase transmission
bandwidth up to 384 Kbps in mobile environments and
up to 2 Mbps in fixed settings.

 (Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access) W CDMA is a
3G mobile wireless technology that increases data
transmission rates in GSM systems by using the CDMA
air interface instead of TDMA (Time Division Multiple
Access) and for that reason offers much higher data
speeds to mobile and portable wireless devices than
commonly offered in today's market.

 W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) is a
type of 3G cellular network. W-CDMA is the technology
behind UMTS (a.k.a. 3GSM) and is allied with the 2G
GSM standard.
