Hidden River
A river is flowing in the midst of beautiful scenery. See
eagles flying amongst mountains in the horizon and feel
the soothing breeze on your skin.
Blue Lagoon
In the early hours of the morning, the mist begins to rise
above a blue lagoon. The delicate water ripples stretch
out across this dreamy body of water.
The still lake is sparkling and clear, encircled by mountains
and forestland. Eagles are flying in the wide blue sky and
enjoying the gentle breeze.

A quiet, sparkling lake alongside alpine mountains covered

with snow. Serenity and calmness surround the cool air

A full moon is shining on this dark night - A campfire is burning

near the seashore, beneath shining stars..

She smiled and then the motion was quickly over

shadowed by a look of alarm as the rope above her

suddenly snapped and she plummeted to the raging creek

below.

Struggling through the stars, Jesse pushed himself

upright and tried again

He took her under the arms and pulled her all the way

back up onto the shore

So he instead raced PT down the road, feeling the hard ground on the

soles of his shoes

Jess smiled at Leslie in awe

“I say we raid the girls’ locker room,” sniggered one of the guys, followed

by hoots.

Joyce Ann used her hands to imitate an explosion

They had climbed up to it, collapsing on the ledge that was just outside the
tree house

Jess saw circles under her eyes. “Did you even sleep last night?”

Jess sadly put his hand on her shoulder and started to speak, and drew his
hand back in alarm when Leslie flinched horribly at his touch, recoiling
away from him as though he was a disease

“I just feel like there are voices screaming in my head. I can’t think...I
just...” Again she trailed off

“Leslie,” he started softly but he couldn’t say anything else; her eyes
softened, as though she liked hearing her name spoken that way, and
her lips quivered slightly in the beginnings a smile

Jess felt guilty; he hadn’t meant to complain. “Yeah…thanks,” he said

slowly
Neither Jess nor Leslie had to look at each other as they sat down on the
couch (as instructed) to know that the other was thinking the same thing

they looked at each other for an instant before turning back to their parents,
but not before Jess caught that new expression in Leslie’s eyes. So she
had had trouble finding words, too

, Leslie simply lowered her face to his neck and silently rested her head on
his shoulder in utter surrender

By the way her shoulders were shaking and by her little sniffs and shaky

gasps for air, Jess gathered that for the second time that day, he had

made her cry.

Bemused, acting as though on instinct, Jess in turn hugged her to him as

tightly as he could without crushing her, running his fingers through her hair

and letting her cry.

Jack took the heat for Jess- dier ckp utk Jess

Jess swallowed as despair clutched at his chest (use this on Matt)

If such a feat was possible, they were even closer now; their noses were

almost touching.

And so he threw everything he had ever known and lived by previously

They walked cautiously behind their elder brother, looking at their parents
apprehensively as they entered the kitchen.
He was scared to touch her, scared to lay one finger on her damaged skin,
but as he tentatively held his arms out to her she rushed into them.

He whipped around and launched himself back toward the house before she
could shout back at him, but as he did, he caught his sister’s stunned look
that told him she had no words to say.

And I think some of the way, I kept coming for the biscuits and as well as
for their religions.

“Touching lips,” Joyce Ann said, as though it was the simplest thing in
the world.

As he went outside, however, he saw Leslie already sitting on the back end
of it, PT chewing a stick below her.

Brenda’s smile faded; in an instant she looked ready to kill.

Interrupting her, stepping back onto the ground and facing Brenda with
gleaming eyes

They glared at each other for a long time, flushed with anger. Finally Jess
was able to string two words together. “Why not?”

Intermittently, she had been released from the river’s iron grip long enough
to breach the surface of the water and gulp a breath of air, before the
overwhelming power of the relentless currents had pulled her under again

The corners of his mouth turned slowly up into a contented smile

Aisle- passageway
Trickle- Drip, dribble.
Nudge- push, poke
Coy- shy, timid,
Neglect- abandon
Skittish- playful
Adorn- decorate
Bead- drop

Sure enough, PT was gnawing on one of the wood strips he and his father
had sanded

Coax- persuade

And he’d taken quiet a few blows for stepping between Leslie and whatever
freak it was who was trying to get his hands on her. His dad didn’t need to
tell him to protect her – that was just automatic

“She’s fine,” Jack said, and Jess assumed they were talking about the
bulldozer

the sensation felt so delicate Jess knew it could easily be crushed with
words.

Profound – deep

Jess forced himself to smile. Yet another reason why he’d rather stay at
Leslie’s house.

It was a gentle rebuke = rebuke- scold

Furrowed- wrinkled

They walked out of the building, waving to Kelly on their way to the door

The news about his mother’s death left him in a daze.

“Jess?” she said quietly under her breath

The thin old woman hated being upstaged by a mere student

Once he was awake, there’s no point staying in bed

Skeptical- doubtful, disbelieving

“How can four words be so irritating?”

“You cowards, you should run away like me!”

Arduous- difficult

He flipped through the pages and stopped when he came

to the one sketch of his best friend Leslie Burke

But somehow, the words caught up in his throat until it

dissolves into nothing

Those who remained, felt the ground trembled beneath

their feet

The fire was reduced to nothing more than severe tongues

of fire searching for nourishment

Huskily- hoarsely, roughly

He soon had it repaired

I felt his strong hand, trying to beat the life back to me

He felt that asking a question might just be a mistake

Bestial- inhuman, foul, cruel

Their eyes like empty sockets

Cleats- shoes

Outlines- house foundation

Once through the gates, he saw houses

Occasionally, he would spot insects on the trees

Wataru walked into a room, only to find a piece of bread on

the table
Clarity- cleanness

He spoke slowly, saying every word with a proper

weight, but the only one that stuck in wataru’s head
was the word ‘mistake’

They were catching glances from people on nearby

benches

Everything—his hope, his father’s answer, his soul

went down into a deep dark abyss

The droplets of remnant of rain caught the sunlight and

shimmered as they fell to the cobblestones

They were on his side, speaking bracing words of comfort

He could feel his throat blistering after having in one gulp

of the hot coffee

Linger- remain

He said gruffly, clambering to his feet

To the east, a jagged fork of lightning shot across the sky

He turned on the engine, and let the wheel spin, kicking

up a think cloud of dust.

I played the violin my whole life but not until my disease

got the better of me

Sprawl- lie down, collapse, lounge, loll

Should a little arm twisting be more humane or should I

take to his word and let him be in the colony of the broken,
helpless souls

Finally, it became obvious that we were not on the same

page and so how are we going to convince him for that?
Yes, that’s it! But on the way, I got to think about it before
having any intention of having a rotten egg on my face

Squelchy- watery, soggy

He sat in self-guilt for the first two periods and practically ran to find
Leslie at third

Leslie turned to look at him and the gentleness of her eyes melted Jess

over all over again; before he could stop himself he reached for her hand

and took it in his own, wrapping his fingers around his. She leaned back

against the wall and clutched his hand in return.

“Thank you,” she whispered to him and that new expression in her eyes

was suddenly there again; they were full of light and strength and

sadness all at the same time, and something else that Jess couldn’t

decipher.

Achingly

Jestingly- jokingly

Muffle- cover

The wall was like wet tars to the passing light of his wand

Thwart- stop, prevent

Wintry disapproval; wintry- chilly

Anecdote- story, tale

A frail, wispy cloud, just like the square of sky visible through the high

mullioned windows

But knowledge is like the horizon…it exceed as we

approach it and we would craved, always need to
know more

But so many had happened today, things I have taken for

granted are being called into questions

Rolled up their sleeves

Briefed

Emphasized- highlight

It was clear from the smiles all around that something

lasting had been sown into their hearts

Gaudy tacky limo

But in spite of all the noise neither of them moved for a long time.

Jess smiled his heart warming as he traced her cheekbone with his thumb.

Incredulously- disbelieve

Somehow he felt so old in those brief, fleeting seconds, as though time had
gone screeching by ages ago and he was just hearing it now….

Well, excuse me for not noticing his greatness bcuz I was too busy to watch
him crawling underneath a turtle
My odds are bad enough as it is, it only gets worse after dark

Okay, I think u might wanna take it from the top…why am I here again?

Ahh! Again with the tadpole! This is ridiculous we are not getting
anywhere!

But all this time, he just maneuvering her all in closer and closer to the hole

Don’t argue

Crumpled with concentration

Ominously- threateningly, gloomily

Bellow- shout, yell

Gaily- merrily, casually

Vigil-

Relinquish- give up, surrender, turn down

Gazing upwards

Astonished

He seized her hand to make sure they weren’t separated

Ron struggled, before managing to extract his wand

Tall building looked down on them

Gaunt face – skinny face

He looked to be on the verge of tears

Tufty-haired
Amethyst-coloured robes with a matching hat

Flicking

He limped (move forward) forward, jabbed (poke) Harry

with a wand as it singed (scorched) a hole

Avidly -keenly, passionately

He held out his hand to take it

Fondly… pleased

She raised her wand threateningly and announced that he

was about to get a proper haircut

Succumb- give away, surrender, submit

Trill- vibration, shrill

Resentful- angry, bitter, upset

Nauseated- disgusted, revolving

A dull anger began to gather again at the back of his mind

and the dull fires of his lust began to glow angrily in his vein

The smile passed away from his face

"I am not wearing a tie to see this Greg Jacklyn," Jess tried to tell her but

Leslie was stubborn.

"You'll look handsome." Leslie was losing patience

Pull that off

She is a pretty brave girl, she is

I was using ur garden to make breakfast, I was

I’m thankful to u, that I am

U done ur homework well, that u have

Why is it crying, for crying out loud!

The four o’clock rolled around, the Aarons household could usually hear
voices being raised and doors slammed from across the dirt road.

One morning, Judy came rushing over/down to the Aarons home,

apologetic and frantic.

After that, she’d gone to her therapy session sullenly, but without
a fight

There was scattered applause

Leslie winced as the sound of his voice pierced through the room

That was unbelievable Leslie…your speech—you winged all of

that?

Remind me why we drove the way out here again?
