Epoque Quartet

http://www.epoquequartet.com/
The Prague string quartet Epoque Quartet was founded at the beginning of the year 1999. Four excellent soloists and chamber musicians with abundant stage experiences
brought not only their unanimity in musical opinions and the relationship in their artistic nature together, but even their extraordinary interest in musical genres, which do not
belong under the title „classical music“ – jazz, rock and funk. As compositions of the classical quartet literature stay an integral part of the programmes of this ensemble, the
sensitive approach to unconventional arrangements brings him new possibilities in using the string instruments and at the same time it enables them to widen the repertoire,
which on our and on stages abroad is unique.
The members of the quartet are laureates of several international competitions (for two times the first place in the competition of Liezen in Austria, the first price in the
international competition Ludwig van Beethoven for string quartets, the price Jeunesse Musicale) and the ensemble took part in some other competitions (for example the
competition Paolo Borciani), too. Abroad the quartet gave among others concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, England, Israel, Japan, Brazil, China,
Canada, USA, Greece, in the Netherlands, Poland, Bosnia and so on. Regularly the Epoque Quartet performs in the subscription cycles of the Symphonic Orchestra of the
Czech Broadcasting, the Czech Nonet, plays for the association for chamber music, cooperates with the Czech television and the Czech Broadcasting and is guest on
prestigious music festivals for example the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Concentus Moraviae, the Music Festival of České Krumlov, Chamber music Cycle of the
Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Metamorphoses (Switzerland), Music Festival Ludwig van Beethoven, Moravský podzim (Moravian autumn) an so on. Last year the Epoque
Quartet has its debut on famous Prague Spring International Music Festival.
The members of the Epoque Quartet led a master classes in jazz interpretation at several places of the world (Jerusalem, Sao Paulo, Belgrade and Prague). In the field of jazz
the Epoque quartet came together with personalities like Gregory Porter, George Mraz, Benny Beailey, Yoshiko Kishino and David Braid. Digestedly the ensemble works
together with the Trio Robert Balzar and with world famous french horn player Radek Baborak. As a members of other music formations (Czech Radio Orchestra, Czech
Philharmonic, Orquestrina Baborak, Art Trio Bohemia a.o.) they came together with international stars like Mischa Maisky, Placido Domingo, Jose Cura, Janin Jansen,
Maxim Vengerov, Vaclav Neumann, Libor Pesek and others in a places like Berlin Philharmonie, Tonhalle Zürich, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Rudolphinum Prague and so on.
Duo Artis

http://www.artis-gitarrenduo.de
The young and sympathetic ARTIS GuitarDuo is about to gain a firm place in the international concert world. Their lively, emotional style of playing and blind understanding
on stage create an intense, intimate atmosphere and turn a concert into a unique experience.
Several first and second prizes at international chamber music competitions in Italy, Spain, Liechtenstein and Germany as well as many audience awards confirm the
outstanding quality of the duo.
True to the motto „the guitar is an orchestra“ the two musicians cover the whole color range of their instruments and play completely by heart. The result is a communication
and liveliness on stage as it is rarely found.
Invitations to numerous international music festivals and further concert tours took the duo to Italy, Lithuania and Poland. Invited by the Goethe-Institute, they already
concerted as cultural ambassadors in Brazil, China and Andalusia.
Julia and Christian Zielinski, both born in 1987, are scholarship holders of the highly skilled foundations ING DiBa and the DAAD. Furthermore, they regularly performed in
charitable organizations for the Yehudi Menuhin Society "Live Music Now".
They successfully graduated with distinction from the universities in Stuttgart (teachers: Prof. Johannes Monno and Kaltchev Guitar Duo), Frankfurt (Prof. Michael Teuchert)

Yamandu Costa, 7-string guitar virtuoso, is one of the few Brazilian instrumental music composers, extremely gifted musician, and improviser. Now at the age of 35, with his
distinct way of playing, already a reference for the younger guitar generation.
Influenced by many great musicians like Lucio Yanel and Astor Piazzolla (from Argentina), Raphael Rabelo, Baden Powell and Antonio Carlos Jobim (from Brazil) and
Django Reinhardt, Yamandu has created his very particular style of compositions, somewhere between the typical music from the south of Brazil, Choro and Samba with
finger acrobatic like passages, high tempo and yet very delicate and melodious pieces. For the audience his music is somewhere between breathtaking and breath-holding,
accompanied by Yamandu’s way of melting with his instrument and being one for the duration of the concert.
Yamandu is embracing the range of root-Latin-American music with a clear basis on South Brazilian swing.

Rolf Lislevand

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolf_Lislevand
Rolf Lislevand was born in 1961 in Oslo. From 1980 until 1984, he studied the classical guitar at the Norwegian State Academy of Music. In 1984, he entered the Schola
Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, which was then the most active early music center in Europe. He studied there until 1987, under the guidance of Hopkinson Smith and
Eugéne Dombois.
Since 1987, he has been living in Verona, Italy, where he has been trying to reconstruct an authentic way of performing Italian music from the first half of the 17th century.
Living in close contact with an old civilization which was always as attentive to modernism as tradition, he strives for a combination of intuition and research to guide him
towards a comprehensive concept of style and aesthetics of Baroque music.
Rolf Lislevand’s solo-recordings are released by the French label Auvidis/Astrée. His first CD of music by the Italian-born lutenist Hieronymus Kapsberger received, along
with glowing reviews, the French „Diapason d’Or de l‘année 1994“ award. The same year, the Kapsberger CD was voted the „Best Record of Music before 1650“ at the
MIDEM international music industry fair in Cannes and, in 1995, „Critic’s choice“ of Gramophone.
In the past few years, Lislevand has expanded two aspects of his career: his work as a soloist ad a teacher. At the Conservatoire National de Toulouse (France), he has been
allowed to develop a didactic method for instruments of the lute family which were cut off from their tradition centuries ago. Since 1993, Rolf Lislevand has been a professor
at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, Germany.

Prof. Thomas Offermann counts today as one of the most internationally regarded guitar pedagogues in Europe and further afield. As soloist, with orchestra and as member of
the internationally acclaimed Duo Sonare, one of the outstanding guitar duos of recent times, he has toured in over forty countries worldwide and participated at the most
prestigious Guitar Festivals. Numerous Radio and Television broadcasts, together with 8 internationally appraised CD recordings provide a worthy documentation of the
quality of his work.
Through his work with Duo Sonare, Thomas Offermann opened new ground for the classical guitar repertoire with the adaption of music by such figures as Chick Corea,
Frank Zappa and Mike Oldfield. Chick Corea himself praised these interpretations for „so much feeling and beauty“.

As Professor he currently teaches an International Master class at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock; he is Artistic Director of the International Guitar Academy
Berlin. His experienced and sensitive manner of teaching the guitar have won him great renown both at home and abroad. He is at present engaged in the publication of the
„Integrative Guitar Technique“ which has already been featured at prestigious institutions, guitar festivals and universities across the world, winning acclaim from both
participants and peers alike.

In recent years Thomas Offermann has also been active as a conductor of guitar orchestras presenting works by Steve Reich, Roland Dyens, Carlo Domeniconi, Benjamin
Verdery, Leo Brouwer and others; Carlo Domeniconi and Benjamin Verdery wrote works for larger Guitar Ensembles for him.
Danielle Ribouillault wrote on his teaching in Les Cahiers de la Guitare:
“As I entered the class, he was explaining how to use the notes to revive a phrase, and then you can hear how the phrase flourishes and starts to live. He guides the student
towards a generous Rubato that lets the melody vibrate. He, who had played with such a musicality and mastery, knows how to transmit his live-giving esprit… A lot of
students attended his class: clearly because something special happens with him during his passionate transmission of music, something essential and more intense than
otherwise.”

Since 2010 Thomas Offermann is the D’Addario’s European Classical Guitar Representative.
