AEROSPACE TRAINING PROGRAMME BY ISTE & P3

ISTE has signed the MOU with P3 Academy, Bangalore
for promoting Skill Development and Industry oreiented
training for students in the area of Aerospace Sector. P3
Academy is a training division for promoting skilled
manpower for emerging Aerospace Sector in India.
P3 and ISTE has successfully completed the
Aerospace Industry Orientation Programe at KLE Gogte
Institute of Technology, Belagavi, Karnataka during 4th
September to 7th October, 2017 and at Mauli College of
Engineering and Technology, Shegaon, Maharashtra
during 18th September to 14th October, 2017. The
training provides brief overview on Aircraft Industry,
Aerospace Design, Structural Analysis and Aircraft
Maintenance. The training also covers the details on the
growing opportunities and insight into various aerospace
Original Equipment Manfacturuer (OEMS) and its
engineering suppliers. The course was conducted by
Mr. Charles Martin, P3 Academy Faculty.

Proposals invited to host the ISTE
National Annual Faculty & Students
National Conventions for the year 2018
As a regular annual feature, forty seven National Annual
Conventions and twenty Students Convention of ISTE have
been held so far in different States. The major impact of
these Conventions are instrumental in providing an
opportunity for the Teachers, Educational Planners and
Administrators, Students and all other stakeholders who are
involved in the field of technical education to get together
and share their views and to contribute the development of
technical education system.
In this regard, Institutions are welcome to send their
proposals for hosting the 21st ISTE Annual Students
Convention and 48th ISTE National Annual Faculty
Convention, which will be organised during October and
December 2018 respectively. Proposals received will be
placed before the ISTE Executive Council in its meeting for
consideration.
Interested institutions are requested to send their
detailed profile alongwith their willingness letter for hosting
the Conventions to the following address:

not come again in your entire life. Avoid fights,
angriness and speak lovely to every person.
 The most expensive thing in the world is trust. It can
take years to earn and a matter of seconds to lose.
 Silence and smile are two powerful tools. Smile is the
way to solve many problems and Silence is the way to
avoid many problems.
 Discussions are always better than arguments,
because an argument is to find out who is right, and a
discussion is to find out what is right.
 To be successful you do not need beautiful face and
heroic body, what you need is skillful mind and ability
to perform.
 Confidence is better than perfection because perfection
means doing the best but confidence means knowing
how to handle the worst.
 A satisfied life is better than a successful life because
our success is measured by others. But our
satisfaction is measured by our own soul, mind and
heart.
 You learn more from failure than from success. Do not
let it stop you. Failure builds character.
 Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! W ithout
a humble but reasonable confidence in your own
powers you cannot be successful or happy.

GUJARAT
 Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad
organised lecture on The Invisible Universe on 15-2-2018.
Dr. Jen Gupta from University of Portsmouth, UK was the
speaker for the topic. More than 500 faculty and students
attended this lecture and actively took part in question-answer
session.

KARNATAKA
 Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology,
Puttur organised three day National Conference on Water
Conservation and Managment in the Coastal Regions
(WCMCR 2017) on 12th to 14th October, 2017. The
conference was inaugurated by Dr. G.V. Hegde, Deputy
Director, Mines and Geology, Bengaluru. Proceedings of the
Conference was released in the inaugural function containing
four keynote papers and 30 technical papers on different
themes of the conference.

MAHARASHTRA & GOA
 St. John College of Engineering and Management,
Palghar organised one day faculty development programme
on Effective Mentoring on 10-2-2018. The resource person
was Dr. Dinu Mathew, Director, Parivartan Charitable Society,
Counselor, Consultant and Trainer.

 Kings College of Engineering, Punalkulam, Thanjavur
conducted seminar on Recent Trends in Civil Engineering
on 4-1-2018 by Mr. P. Karthik, Assistant Professor, Dept. of
Civil Engg. Another seminar on Mobile Computing by Mrs.
R. Ranitha, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computer Science on
18-1-2018.
 Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College, Coimbatore
organised one day seminar sponsored by ISTE on Recent
Trends in Electronic Industry on 14-2-2018. Dr. A.
Sankara Subramanian, Principal, GRG Polytechnic College was
the Chief Guest for the programme. Mr. L. Kishore, Supplier
Quality Assurance, Alstom Transport India Ltd., Coimbatore
delivered address on Recent Trends in Electronics
Industry. The Chief Guest distributed prizes and Trophies to
the winners of quiz and paper presentation.

 Anurag College of Engineering, Ghatkesar, R.R. Dist.
conducted workshop on Positive Attitude - A Gateway to
Success on 15-2-2018 by Prof. M.L. Sai Kumar, an eminent
speaker and motivator.

KERALA
 College of Engineering, Pathanapuram, Kollam
organised an awareness talk on Oral Cancer by Dr. Nisha
Sam, BDS, MDS in oral and Maxillofacial Pathology for the
students and people who are residing in Kuriottumala Colony
on 19-1-2018. The talk reflect the ill effets of the tobacco,
areca nut and alcohol causes, manifestations and prevention
aspects of oral cancer. A workshop on LATEX also
conducted for students on 19-1-2018 by Prof. Vaisakh. G.,
Assistant Professor, Dept. of Civil Engg. with the objective to
aware the students of LATEX which is a high quality
typesetting document preparation system.

 Marathwada Mitramandal's College of Engineering,
Pune organised UDAAN 2K18 a technical event comprising of
Quiz Competition, Model Making and Poster presentation on
17th & 18th January, 2018. The event was inaugurated by Dr.

 ABMSP's Anantrao Pawar College of Engineering &
Research, Pune organised two days technical event
SPARK-TECH 2K18 from 16th to 18th February, 2018. The
guests graced the function with their presence was Dr. N.B.

quoted in books and reference journals. His great
contribution and services for the cause of technical
education will always be cherished by all teachers of
technical institutions in the country. Prof. P.V. Gupta will live
on in our memories forever.

NEWS FROM ISTE KERELA SECTION

 28th Annual State Convention of ISTE Kerala Section and
National Seminar was held at Government Engineering College,
Thrissur on 9th December, 2018. Prof. Pratapsinh K. Desai,
President, ISTE inaugurated the programme. The theme of the
National Seminar was Society, Education and Environment.
Dr. K. Vijaya Kumar, Chairman, ISTE Kerala Section presided
over the function. Dr. K.P. Indiradevi, Director of Technical
Education, Govt. of Kerala was the Guest of Honour and
released the Convention Souvenir. Sri M.M. Kuriakose,
Secretary, ISTE Kerala Section announed the awards to
various staff and student chapters of ISTE Kerala State.
Awards were presented by the honourable guests present on
the dais. Dr. C.P. Sunil Kumar, National Executive Council
Member and Organising Secretary made the introductory
speech. Dr. B. Jayanand, Principal; Prof. K. Vidyasagar, Jt.
DTE; Dr. M. Nandakumar, Convenor, Diamond Jubilee
celebrations of GECT; Dr. P.R. Shali, Member, SMC and Sri
Lakshad K. Suresh, Convenor, ISTE GECT Students Chapter
delivered the speeches. Dr. Anandakuttan B. Unnithan,
Professor, IIM, Kozhikode gave keynote address. Dr. K.G.
Viswanadhan, Dr. C.K. Raju, Dr. T.V. Babu Rajendran, Prof.
A.S. Chandrakant, Prof. P.K. Russel, Mr. M. Sini, Prof. A.M.
Mazeeda, M.J. Biju, Joby George, Ar. Fathima Rishin and A.V.
Linimol Ansalam presented papers. Dr. P.P. Nair and Dr. C.E.
Krishnan Chaired the Session. Prof. A.K. Mubarak and S.R.
Pavithran were the Session Managers.
Annual General Body Meeting of ISTE Kerala Section was held
after the technical sessions. Presentation of the report of
activities of ISTE Kerala Section was done by the Secretary
Prof. M.M. Kuriakose and presentation of accounts was done
by the Treasuer Prof. T.O. Thomas.
