Supplication for a Long Life
Sayyid ibn al-±¡w£s, through a reliable chain of narrators
from Jam¢l ibn Darr¡j has narrated that a man once came to
Im¡m Ja‘far as-¯¡diq a and said, “O’ my master! Verily I
am old and all of my family members have passed away. I
have no one close to me and I fear that I shall die soon.” The
Im¡m replied, “Thus if you desire a long life for yourself,
family and friends then read this supplication after every
¯al¡t.”

The narrator of this ¦ad¢th mentioned, “I was persistent in
reciting this supplication and I lived for a long time such that
I was satiated with living.”
Supplication that Will Add 11 Years to One’s Life
The late Mull¡h Mu¦ammad B¡qir Fash¡rk¢ who has written
a short treatise on the recommended acts for the months of
Rajab, Sha‘b¡n and Rama¤h¡n has narrated that in some
books it has been mentioned that if the following supplication
is read on the last Friday of the month of Rajab then then that
person will have 11 years added to his or her life:

Supplication that Should be Read When Sick
In the book Jaw¡hir al-Qur’¡n it has been mentioned that
whoever gets sick should read this supplication forty times:
If the person dies while still sick, then one will be given the
reward of a Shah¢d, and if one gets better than all of his or her
sins will be wiped out.
Supplication at the Time of Performing Ghusl
Im¡m Ja‘far ibn Mu¦ammad as-S¡diq a has said, “The
Ghusl on the day of Jumu‘ah is a purifier for the body and a
reparation for one’s sins from the previous Jumu‘ah until the
next Jumu‘ah.” In another ¦ad¢th, it has been narrated that
the Ghusl and this supplication will purify that person who
reads it from sins until the next Jumu‘ah:

Supplication to be Protected from an Oppressor
The following Du¡‘ is effective when one fears an oppressor
or when he is going to visit the person who is in charge of a
country (President, Prime Minister, etc…) which Im¡m Ja‘far
ibn Mu¦ammad as-S¡diq a himself read when going into the
presence of the cursed “Caliph” Man¥£r:

Supplication to be Protected from a Bad Neighbour
A man once complained to Im¡m al-°asan a about his
neighbour who was constantly bugging him. The Im¡m told
him, “After you have finished ¯al¡t al-Maghrib and al-‘Ish¡,
recite a two Rak‘at ¯al¡t and then say this supplication.”
