GENERAL AIMS OF THE TEST:

1. To give the teacher and the students information concerning the students’
progress;
2. To indentify any areas of difficulty and weakness which might need
remedial work;
3. To give the teacher feedback on the effectiveness of her teaching;
4. To give the students additional motivation to study thoroughly.

SPECIFIC GOALS OF THE TEST:

Grammar
To have Ss choose and circle the correct variant between much/ many / a lot
of); to use the verbs in brackets in present simple or present continuous
according to the context given taking into account the adverbs specific to
each tense; to have Ss write the plurals of the nouns given; to write the
comparative form of the adjectives in the brackets; to have Ss choose and
write the correct variant between must and mustn’t, to have Ss write the
correct quantifier according to the photo given and insert it in the text

Vocabulary
To have Ss match the photos with the words by choosing from two variants
(food vocabulary)
To have Ss complete the lines with information from the text given

SWOT analyses of the test

The Ss’ strong points consist in the fact that they assimilated the basic vocabulary
information. Where grammar is concerned they prove that they know how to form the
plural of the noun, they understand the difference between much/many/ a lot of, must/
mustn’t.

Weak points: Ss need to improve the way they assimilate grammar information, mis
using the verbs at the correct tense, misuse of the quantifiers properly.

Threats: Some Ss do their homework in a superficial manner, this thing is reflected in


their results at the test papers.

Opportunities: The Ss are interested in learning English language, being aware that it is
spoken all over the world and they will need it also in the future to communicate, to make
friends, to travel. All the Ss have books given by the school and
