1.) Describe NASA and its mission: NASA stands for National Aeronautics and
Space Administration. NASA is a United States government agency that is
responsible for science and technology related to air and space. The Space Age
started in 1957 with the launch of the Soviet satellite Sputnik. NASA was created
in 1958. Human spaceflight NASA has successfully launched over 100 manned
flights. Two have ended in failure, causing the death of the entire crew: STS-51-L
(the Challenger disaster) in 1986, and STS-107 (the Columbia disaster) in 2003.
(Apollo 1 in 1967 lost three crew members but never launched.)
2.) Why is Hubble space Telescope created? Hubble's four main instruments
observe in the near ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared spectra. Hubble's orbit
outside the distortion of Earth's atmosphere allows it to take extremely high-
resolution images, with substantially lower background light than ground-based
telescopes. Hubble has recorded some of the most detailed visible light images
ever, allowing a deep view into space and time. Many Hubble observations have
led to breakthroughs in astrophysics, such as accurately determining the rate of
expansion of the universe.
3.) Explain how you are personally benefited by the Hubble’s mission: Hubble
significantly improved our measurement of the age of the universe. It also played a key
role, in conjunction with other observatories, in the discovery of dark energy, a
mysterious force that causes the expansion of the universe to accelerate.
4.) Describe and Explain the part of the film that you liked/appreciate the most:
My most favorite part is when they did it successfully because they
can go home to their families again.
