OUWB INTERNAL MEDICINE CLERKSHIP ORIENTATION AGENDA
During the Clerkship Orientation, we will discuss expectations, objectives, schedules,
assessment/grading policy, absence policy, mistreatment, duty hours, professionalism, and evaluations. 1. MS-3 SCHEDULE: Wards Rotation – 4 weeks: refer to Teaching Roster & Floor Grid Ambulatory Site Assignment - 2 weeks: Students are assigned to work at a clinic or private physician’s office – refer to green Ambulatory Rotation Schedule Night Float – 1 week: refer to MS-3 Schedule for Night Float Schedule Sub-Specialty – 1 week: refer to Sub-Specialty Schedule & Sub-Specialty Contact Sheet
2. TEACHING/LECTURE SCHEDULE (refer to yellow calendar):
Lectures are held on Monday afternoons. All students are required to attend lectures noted on calendar. These are held in the Administration Bldg-West, OUWB Classroom (except for sessions @ 5:00 w/Dr. Goldstein, these are held in Central Tower, Heart Center Conf. Room) Those students rotating on Wards will attend: Morning Report: Attendance mandatory for students rotating on Wards Noon Conference: Attendance optional, but recommended if on Wards Grand Rounds: Attendance mandatory if on Wards
3. ASSIGNMENTS TO BE COMPLETED BY END OF THE CLERKSHIP:
In Oasis: Enter the 14 required patient cases Enter procedures & examinations - use Dr. Kaminoulu’s name on the sign-off screen in Oasis, and turn paper card into clerkship coordinator - Lynn Abdominal Exam Head & Neck Exam Heart Exam Lung Exam Patient History Enter weekly duty hours information Complete Faculty and Course Evaluations Complete 18 Simple Virtual Cases
4. MID-ROTATION FEEDBACK: Complete the Mid-rotation Feedback form (form in orientation
folder) with your attending. The Clerkship Director will meet with each student individually at the 4- week mark to discuss feedback. Bring any completed Feedback forms to this meeting, along with a recent history & physical, and copy of your Oasis patient case log to date. 5. ATTENDANCE: Students must notify clerkship director of any absence, and also email coordinator: lynn.gleason@beaumont.org 6. Textbooks available for check-out: (available in coordinator’s office, Administration Building- West, 3rd Floor, Medical Education Dept.)
