ONSIP MANUAL
A valuable experience begins with discovering new tools that can be used to enhance
communication. We introduce to you the “ONSIP” software. The software utilizes the
framework similar to Skype and allows for direct contact between users from one
computer to the other.

Method 1: This can be used if you have a Google account such as gmail.
OR
Method 2: This method can be used if you do not have a google account such as Hotmail
or Yahoo, just to name a few.
Method 1
The first step is to navigate to the Onsip site, Click on “Create an account”.

After entering the required information, you will be redirected to “Confirm your Settings”.

Organization: This area may be the acronym for your school. For example: dths may be the
acronym for Denham Town High School. This will form the domain name for your school.
Domain: unique identifier for computers on a network. For example: The domain I used is:
dths.onsip.com
Full Name: This will be entered automatically, however you will be able to change
information entered.
Phone Number: ONSIP requires an 11- digit phone number. This includes your area code and
your seven digit phone number.
SIP Address: This is your personal ONSIP address, you will need this information to log in.
Company Size: You are at liberty to choose the size you want. This is not dependent on your
class size.
After filling in the necessary information, click “Confirm”. Please make note of your
“SIP address” as it is important to make calls and also for log in purposes.

Method 2
Email Address
The first step to creating your ONSIP account is to enter your email address, followed
by pressing the “Get Started” button.

The email address used in Step 1 will be shown above. You will be required to create a
password. Choose a password that is easy to remember.

For this section, Company name you can put the acronym for your institution. For eg: I
used ‘stgc’ as the acronym St. Georges College (as shown below). The number of
employees can be used in the case for the student class size which is dependent on you.

The next step, the individual will be prompted to enter their full name and phone
number. Entering the phone number, area code is needed. For example: 18761234567

Based on the information added on Page 7, you may see one of two screens listed. “stgc”
used for example purposes is your domain name. ruel_squire@stgc.onsip.com would be
my SIP Address.

After completing the above mentioned step, a confirmation email will be sent to your
email.
Upon receiving the confirmation email, press “Activate Now” which will redirect you to
the ONSIP page.

ONSIP allows for two forms of login. You are at liberty to choose based on the method used
in creating your account.

Teachers or Administrations have the option of creating the account for the student.
Every student will have the same domain name, only the user name will change. This
also the gives the main user the ability to see who is online.
Admin Portal
Enter the required information using the ONSIP address you received and your
password that was created.

Click Users
You can then enter the new user’s name, email address and their phone number. Phone
number must be an 11 digit number. After entering the information, click “Save”
After clicking “Save”, an email will be sent to the student or user email address. The
student or user will see an email similar to the picture below.
The user will then be redirected to the screen above showing their SIP address and the
ability to choose your custom password.
After resetting the password, the user will be asked to login with your SIP address and
password.

After clicking “Add Account”, you can use the custom contact area to add other
persons. After entering the required information, click “Create Account”.
The custom contact area will be located at the right hand corner of your screen.

Making Calls
Making calls using the ONSIP account enter the SIP address in the bar and press
“Voice Call”. Once the user is online, they will receive a call on their computer or use
the “Video Call” option if you have a webcam.

If you have added the users contact, the information will appear in the left bar, after
clicking the users name, you can click “Voice Call” (as shown below).
Recording Calls
Unfortunately, you will not be able to record calls for free using ONSIP. Instead they are
other free recording software that can be used such as:
• Audacity: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/
1. Log into the Admin Portal with your SIP address and Password. (If you’ve forgotten
your password, click on the Forgot Password link and follow the instructions.)
2. Once logged in, select Account from the left-side menu.
3. Then, select Contact Support (found in the Support box).
4. Choose Billing from the Support Issue dropdown menu, and enter in your request in
the Message box. Feel free to use our suggested template as your cancellation message:
I wish to close my OnSIP account, and permanently remove all features, services, and
phone numbers.
