 We want to find the Total Pressure (Static + Dynamic) at particular cross section of

the duct as show in the above fig.

 Total pressure should be Averaged Total pressure across the particular cross section.
 Instrument which is going to Average the total pressure, should be placed in cross
( X ) position.
 This instrument (small metal tubes) should have sensing hole, which can sense the air
pressure at the each hole and through the connecting tube we can measure the
Averaged Total Pressure with the help of manometer.
 But there should not be the pressure drop in the metal tubes while air is moving
through the metal tube.
 There should not be the generation of the turbulence in air ( in the Duct ) due to the
diameter of the metal tube.
 All Sensing hole must be in the direction of the air flow, as shown in fig.
