NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCHOOL BASED DEWORMING DAY
January 5, 2018

It is health that is real wealth and not the pieces of gold and silver. -
- Mahatma Gandhi

Advocating for a good holistic health is an increasingly important function in schools.

Promoting the healthy well being of children and young people is recognized as a shared

responsibility done not only by members of the school system but also by the health workers

of the community.

Community health workers also known as promoter, health access workers, care

coordinators and the like play a vital role in reducing health care costs, improving access to

quality clinical and preventative services, and advancing health outcomes for the school and

communities in which they serve. This is manifested in the service they rendered at Alitagtag

National High School on the NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY held on January 5,

2018. The event was headed by Nurse Katrina Adan- Dimaunahan and Nurse Jonathan

Adan. Their dedication to make this advocacy possible greatly benefited seventy-two (72)

students of ANHS. However, the participants were very few due to the misconception of the

medication given to the students. Nonetheless, the event was considered a success.
