Course Description
The course objective is to learn to read, analyze, and write about elements in
literary passages including poetry, prose and dramatic literature.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

 Infer the meaning of words using context clues such as connotation,


denotation, tone and mood.
 Analyze different types of poetry including blank verse, free verse, narrative
poems and lyric poetry
 Interpret the meaning in different types of prose such as novels, short stories
and folktales
 Distinguish between different types of dramatic writing, including tragedy,
comedy, farce, melodrama and mixed forms
 Define and summarize different literary terms such as metaphor, synecdoche,
metonymy, clichés, equivocations, allusion, themes and motif
 Compare and contrast different types of points of view, including limited,
objective and omniscient.

Evaluation Description
Attendance and participation:

includes quizzes for all units. Students Week 12: 29 October - 2 November 2018
must complete all quizzes as part of  Short Fiction

There is a textbook for this course which Week 14: 12-16 November 2018
is compiled by Miss Chalermkwan,  Types of Poetry
however, should you want to read on Week 15: 19-23 November 2018
