Computer Hardware Servicing

Rules:

Competitor Qualifications:

1. Must be 17-25 years of age


2. Currently enrolled in any TVI with registered program or qualification
3. Has not taken national assessment and certification in CHS NC 2.

Coverage of the Competition:

1. Install Computer Systems and Networks


2. Diagnose and Troubleshoot Computer Systems
3. Configure Computer Systems and Networks
4. Maintain Computer Systems and Networks

General criteria:

Equipment

1. Use one (1) set computer only (Replacement is NOT allowed)


TO be provided by the Sector Chairperson
2. One (1) Server PC
3. One (1) Hub
4. One (1) Printer

Tools:

1. Star screw driver


2. Phillip screw driver
3. Crimping tools
4. LAN tester
5. Stop watch

Materials:

1. 10-meters UTP cable


2. 2-pcs RJ45
3. Bond paper (8.5”x11”)
4. 2pcs.OS CD XP Service Pack 2(to be provided by TESDA)
5. Extension Wire

Specification:

1. PC-DDR3, 1GB Memory, 160-500GB Hard Disk, SATA


2. OS- XP SP2
3. AM2/AM3 processor Sempron/Core 2-quad(Intel)

Note:

Specs higher than the minimum requirements will be automatically deducted a total of three
(3) points
General Instruction:

Given the necessary components, testing instrument, tools and software, the competitors is
required to assemble the system unit of a personal computer. Install the operating system and
configure the computer by installing appropriate drivers, test the unit and setup the network in
accordance with set performance criteria in three (3) hours.

(Note: All PCs components are disassembled, excluding processor, and properly checked by the
judges prior the start of the competition proper.)

Specific Instruction:

1. Hard disk shall be divided into two (2) partitions regardless of size or capacity.
2. Create a straight through cable using T568B specification.
3. Show all desktop icons.
4. The competitor shall use the Workgroup and IP Address set by the judge/s on the
server.
5. Computer name shall be the acronym of the school that the competitor is representing.
6. Create folder on the desktop named “ITWEEK”
7. Create a file using note pad with a file name “itweek2013” and saved at the folder
created at the desktop.(Information shall be provided by the judge).
8. Windows backup name shall be saved on the shared folder located in the server with a
filename “ITWEEK_------” (the dashes represent name of the group)
9. Report to the judge/s after performing the backup to signals the judge/s to delete folder
create on the desktop.(Judge should delete from recycle bin)
10. Restore the original folder deleted by the judge/s
11. Print the file from the restored folder.
12. Report to the Judge/s.

Assessment Guide:

1. Speed -50 points

 1.0 hr & 1 min. – 1.0 hr. & 15 mins. . . 44 pts.

 1.0 hr & 31 min. -1.0 hr. & 45 mins. . . 38 pts.
 1.0 hr & 46 min. - 2.0 hr. . . . . . . . . . . . 35 pts.
 Above two (2) hours . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10 pts.

2. Performance -50 points

 Every error committed based from the specific instructions, two (2) points shall
be deducted.
 A deduction of 5 pts for every RJ45 asked or requested.
