Bubbleponics grow system. So, What Is Bubbleponics, Exactly?

The worlds first continuous plant feeding system, Bubbleponics is a hybrid design that takes the
best from both worlds of the Deep Water Culture (aka DWC, “bubbler”) and drip systems. Since
the nutrient mix is highly oxygenated, Bubbleponics converts its drip function to a constant feed
flow directly to the inner roots. Without needing to take breaks to allow the root base to drain and
absorb oxygen, plants in the Bubbleponic system are able to deliver unparalleled growth energy.

This advantage is particularly pronounced during early vegetative phases when the plant’s root
mass is still relatively small. Cuttings placed into the system experience no noticeable transplant
shock and practically start growing immediately. In experiments measured against leading
aeroponic systems, the Bubbleponic design shaved, on average, four days from a two week
growing cycle, a 30% growth rate increase over Aeroponics in the early vegetative stage; truly
amazing. As the root mass of the respective plants grow larger, growth rate advantages were less
evident, however, the plants in the Bubbleponic planter maintained their 4-5 day lead over the
aeroponic plants throughout the cycle.

In a series of stress tests, plants in the Bubbleponic system performed remarkably when
recovering from an over-fertilized condition. With almost the entire root mass destroyed,
Bubbleponics was able to revive 67% of the plants which started re-growing new roots and were
able to complete their cycle. None of the other plants in the aeroponic products survived this
stress test. The tests concluded that the Bubbleponic system provided significant recovery
advantages over other systems when it came to anything that stressed or killed that root mass.

Hub Feeding Ensures Consistency

The Bubbleponic design is, ironically enough, one of the first hydroponic products to use real
irrigation parts. This includes a hub feed system, where the main flow from the water pump is
broken up into 6 smaller feeder tubes via a pressure regulating irrigation distributor. No other
plants sites are thus dependant on any other as they would be in most drip systems that use T’ed
designs. This also ensures identical feeding conditions at each site.

The Ideal Maintenance Solution

Stealth Hydro specifically designed the Bubbleponic system with maintenance in mind. Almost all
the parts used can be obtained from a local hardware store. By using mainstream brands in the
design it allows the end user to easily replace individual parts in a pinch through out their many
years of bubbleponicing!

The entire irrigation system can be dismantled by hand, requiring no tools. The distribution hub’s
cap can be unscrewed to remove the plastic filter inside. Once dismantled, the parts can easily be
cleaned and re-assembled. No other system, and I’ve seen my share, allows you such easy access
to the nuts and bolts. All other hype aside, if there was ever a reason to consider purchasing a
hydro kit, maintenance should be at the top of the list.

Easy As Pie

Considering that there are no timers to set and tweak for the water pump, and that the unit is
totally self contained and mobile, this is one of the simplest designs around. From setup to final
clean up, bar none, one of the best high speed hydroponic systems on the market. Bubbleponics
has raised the bar and changes everything we are to expect from modern hydroponics.

Dual Spectrum Bubbleponics Complete Kit

System Setup:
Please read all of these instructions before performing any of them.

• Remove the lid with net pots and attached watering pipe mechanism from the base
reservoir.
• Take out all of the parts of the box and the reservoir, place in a safe place, and check them
against the included checklist.
• Decide where you are going to setup your Dual Spectrum Bubbleponics system. Should
you go with a closet, for example, you will have to make sure that the closet is ventilated.
Plants need carbon dioxide to grow, so one needs to constantly replace the air in the
growing chamber. You can use a cheap duct fan to accomplish the ventilation. These fans
are available at most hardware stores.
• You will also need a fan to provide direct air movement onto the plants. Any cheap low
powered fan will work, preferably an oscillating one. Place this fan so that it will blow air
directly onto the plants. Use the lowest setting on the fan.

Example Setup with Pro Reservoir II

INSTALLING THE PRO DRAINAGE KIT

• If you added this accessory to your Bubbleponic kit, use the pre-drilled hole in the center of
the base for installing the drain kit.
• Remove outer nut and one of the washers.
• Insert threaded end into the reservoir.
• Install the washer and then add the nut.
• Tighten the nut by hand and then apply ¼ to ½ turn using a 1” wrench.
• Do not over tighten.
RINSE THE HYDROTON

• Remove the hydroton bag and place the rocks into a colander or large sieve.
• Hold under running water in your sink until thoroughly rinsed and no crushed particles
remain.

• Failing to properly rinse the hydroton may lead to water pump damage and irrigation
system failure.

CALIBRATE THE RESERVOIR

• Get a one gallon container and use this to calibrate the reservoir.
• Add six gallons of water to the container.
• Observe the level at which the water reaches after the sixth gallon is added.
• Empty the reservoir and wipe down the area in which you observed the six gallon water
level.
• With a waterproof permanent marker mark off the six gallon water line.
• The reservoir has now been calibrated.
CONNECTING THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM

In some instances we may have shipped your irrigation system uninstalled in order to fit
everything in the box the order shipped in. If your irrigation system was not installed complete
the following steps:

• Remove the water pump from its box.

• Remove the small black fitting from the water pump

• Insert the large black fitting into the water pump

• Remove the irrigation hub and attached feeder tubes from the box

• Connecting the pump to the irrigation system is done by sliding the tube onto the plastic
fitting of the pump

• When installed into the reservoir the arrangement will look like this:
• Place the pump on the bottom of the reservoir and pull the irrigation tube through the
netpot hole.

• Thread the tube into the netpot as displayed below:

SETTING UP THE AIR PUMP AND AIR STONE

• Remove the air stone from its packaging.

• Take the airline tubing out of the bag and insert one end through the black rubber
grommet hole on the front of the reservoir.

• If not already, remove the stopper from the end of the air stone’s valve.
• Securely attach the end of the air pump tubing that is inside the reservoir to the air stone’s
inlet.
• Place the air stone inside the reservoir so that it sits on the bottom to either side of the
reservoir. Be sure to allow enough airline tube into the reservoir so that the stone sits on
the bottom.

• Securely attach the other end of the air pump tubing that is outside the reservoir to the air
pump outlet. If you have excess airline tubing length, it is best to remove it so as to
facilitate the maximum amount of airflow to the bubble disk.

• You can now add water to the system.

• Once the nutrients have been applied, lower the lid with pots, pump and tubing into the
Bubbleponic nutrient mix. Snap the lid into place. Allow the power cord to slip underneath
the lid with ample extension inside the reservoir for the pump.
• Remove one of the center pots and insert your hand to secure the water pump to the base
of the reservoir.
• Replace the pot back into place.

FILLING THE NETPOTS WITH HYDROTON

• Lower the lid with the net pots and watering mechanism (now with the water pump
attached at the bottom) into the water and snap the reservoir lid into place. Allow the
power cord to slip underneath the lid with ample extension inside the reservoir for the
pump.
• Add the hydroton grow rocks to each net pot; filling the pots halfway to the way to the top.
• Maneuver the feeder tube so that it sticks out of the hydroton as depicted in the picture
below:

• You can add rooted cuttings or seedlings to the netpots and then cover the remaining area
with hydroton.
• Rockwool cubes containing seeds can be added at this point as well.

• Position the rockwool cube such that it is right on top of the feeder hose; fill the remaining
area with hydroton. See more information below.
