SoundVisible Template Auto-Setup User Guide 2

What is it?
This is a script for Adobe After Effects. It does all the tedious work on a project preparation for
rendering. Using this script, you can make an initial setup of a SoundVisible music visualizer within a
minute or so. After the initial auto-setup is completed, the template is ready for rendering. Of course,
you may adjust the visualizer appearance and animation settings before starting the render if needed.

Installation
1. Download the SoundVisible Template Auto-Setup.zip file and extract its content.

2. Open a SoundVisible template in Adobe After Effects CS6 or above.

3. Select File > Import > File... in the main menu to import your music track and images or videos if
you want to set a custom background, logo, etc.
4. Go to the main menu Edit > Preferences > General (Windows) or After Effects > Preferences >
General (Mac OS) and tick the Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network checkbox. It is
required for license activation and checking for updates.

5. Run the script by going into File > Scripts > Run Script File…, browse to the location where you
extracted the archive content and open the SoundVisible Template Auto-Setup.jsx file.

6. At the first start, you will be asked to enter a license key for a template. You can find it on a
purchase receipt. Each SoundVisible template requires license activation, so you may be asked
to enter a license key again in future if you use another template. The script itself needs no
license activation.

7. The script will notify you if any updates are available. It also checks for a template updates.
Take a look at the Updates section for more information.

Settings
After completing the steps described above, you will see the main script interface. Essentially, all you
have to do is to type in your texts, select the images you want to use and press the Apply button.

Text Inputs

Image Selectors

Music File
All the music files imported into the project are added to this selector. Select the file you want to use. If
you import a new file after you run the script, you have to click the Refresh button to update the
selector options.

Text Inputs
The number of text fields may vary depending on the current template features. Fill out Track Name,
Artist Name, and other text fields (if any). If you don’t want any of those texts to be displayed, just leave
the text field blank. After entering a text, you may change its font. Click the Adjust button beside a text
field to open the composition containing this text. After that you can select any font in the "Character"
panel. If you can’t find this panel, select Window > Character in the main menu to open it or just press
Ctrl+6 (Windows) / Command+6 (Mac OS). Notice, the text layer has to be selected while you change its
font.

Image Selectors
The number of image selectors may vary depending on the current template features. All images or

videos imported to the project are added to the image selectors. If you import a new file after you run
the script, you have to click the Refresh button to update the selectors options. Using the image
selectors, you may set a Logo, Cover Art, Background images or videos. After clicking the Apply button,
all the images will be placed at the right locations.

After the settings are applied and you may adjust an image position and scale to fit it in better. Click the
Adjust button beside the corresponding image selector to open the composition containing the image.
Press S to display the scale property of the selected image layer. Use arrow keys (←, →, ↑, ↓) to adjust
the image position. You can zoom in/out a viewer using a mouse wheel.

If you want to remove any of the previously applied images, just select "None" in the selector and apply
the changes.

Audio Spectrum
This setting is optional. The Adjust Spectrum Maximum Height checkbox is displayed only if the current
template has a spectrum which needs to be adjusted.

This operation runs only once for a selected music track. The value won't be calculated again until
another music file is selected. It may take a couple of minutes to run through all the frames and set the
optimum value to the "Audio Bars Max Height" control. You may adjust this control manually later.

It's not available in After Effects CC 2015—2017. Use CS6, CC, or CC 2014 to get an advantage of
automatic spectrum height adjustment.

Output Resolution
Available options depend on output compositions included in the current template. Generally, you may
select one of the following options:

1080p — Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels;

720p — HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels.

Notice that the render time doesn’t depend on an output resolution. In case you select 720p, the
project is rendering in Full HD and then scaling down to 720p resolution.

File Type
Available options depend on the version of After Effects that you are using.

MP4 — Render the project to .mp4 format (H.264 video codec, 12Mbps bitrate, AAC audio codec,
320 kbps bitrate). This file type has been removed from After Effects since version CC 2014 (13.0).

MOV — Render the project to .mov format (H.264 video codec, 12Mbps bitrate, AAC audio codec).

JPG Sequence — Render the project in .jpg sequence. It allows you to interrupt rendering at any time
and continue it later. After the render is done, convert the .jpg sequence to a video of any format.

Actions
There are a few buttons at the bottom of the window:

Apply Clicking it starts the setup process. If no music files imported the button is disabled.

Refresh Clicking it refreshes the user interface after importing new files.
