Information about your studies is provided on Blackboard.

Log on to Blackboard at https://blackboard.ncl.ac.uk/

Log on using the Newcastle University Login Gateway:

Use your campus ID and associated password. Your campus ID starts with a letter, followed
by the middle seven digits of your UCAS ID.

The documents referred to below are available within the Civil Links to content areas in
Engineering and Geosciences organisation (COMMUN263) on Blackboard organisations
Blackboard. More detailed information on using and customising and courses are provided
Blackboard is available within the organisation, in the Help and in the left hand menu
Advice content area.

School Handbook
A link to the School Handbook is available in the General Information directory of the Welcome
content area. You may need to enter your campus ID and password to access the link.

Course Handbook
A link to the Course Handbook is available in the Water directory of the Postgraduate Taught
Students content area. You may need to enter your campus ID and password to access the link.

Induction Presentations

Timetables
Programme timetables are available in the Programme Timetables sub-directory of the Water

NESS and PEC Instructions

Coursework Submission
All students submit coursework using the NESS system. Instructions are available in the
Coursework Submission directory of the Study Policies and Procedures content area.

Absence and Requests for Extensions to Coursework Deadlines

The relevant forms and instructions for submitting them are available in the PEC and Student
Absence Procedures directory of the Study Policies and Procedures content area.

Reading Lists
Programme reading lists and links to other resources are available in the Background Reading
sub-directory of the Water directory in the Postgraduate Taught Students content area. Module
reading lists are available in each Blackboard course.

Prerequisite Mathematics and Chemistry

Resources for revision of the Mathematics and Chemistry elements of the programmes are
provided in the Prerequisite Mathematics and Prerequisite Chemistry sub-directories of the
