METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR REINFORCEMENT OF TRANSMISSION TOWER FOUNDATION


AND WADI PROTECTION ON TRANSMISSION TOWERS AT BATINAH REGION.

1.0 SCOPE OF WORK

This scope of work to be executed is Reinforcement of Transmission tower foundation


and Wadi protection on Transmission towers at Batinah region. in the following.

Repairing of Tower Foundation of 132kV and 220kV Transmission Lines and


providing Earth rod if not available:-

 Excavation of the soil around the defective tower foundations to a min. depth of 1m at
least. Wherever the cracks extend more than 1m below the soil surface excavation
will continue up to the end of the crack.
 Removal of the damaged concrete from around the main reinforcement bars.
 Cleaning of all corroded reinforcement and measuring the remaining bar diameter
after cleaning.
 Paint the corroded bar after cleaning with protective paint.
 Repairing the concrete surface with special concrete enclosing a steel reinforcement
cage placed all around the damaged concrete. Based on the severity of the damage the
steel reinforcement cage can be avoided in places where the damages is severe and
after the approval of engineer.
 Provide 150mm thick RCC protection to the defective existing RCC columns of the
tower.
 Paint the new concrete with protected paint to avoid future damage.
 Provide channel for water flow away from the tower foundations.
 In case the steel fully corroded you need to remove (replace by new steel) corroded
part up to non- corroded steel and welded tighter and apply concrete.
 Stone concrete (riprap) around foundation columns to be provided for foundation.
