RECONFIGURATION UPDATE
Conor Burns MP has
maintained his promise to
protect local people from any
changes to local hospitals
that do not deliver at least
the same, if not better, access
to medical services for
patients.
This call comes following
proposals from the Dorset
NHS Clinical Commissioning
Group (CCG) to reconfigure
"major emergency hospital
care".
Core proposals from local
NHS chiefs include:
⊲ Centralise local hospital
services, making Royal
Bournemouth Hospital
Dorset’s major emergency
hospital, with Poole
Hospital delivering
planned care and Dorset
County Hospital remaining
both a planned and
emergency care hospital.

A public consultation of 7,838
people found 44 per cent
would choose the CCG’s
proposals while 34 per cent
preferred Poole as the major
emergency hospital. In
particular, Conor wants the
CCG to answer concerns
about accessibility, which
was flagged as a major worry
for local people.
