Double object pronouns

It is important to review the order of pronouns when both direct and


indirect object pronouns
are used in the same sentence.
◆ The indirect object pronoun precedes the direct object pronoun
subject + indirect object pronoun + direct object pronoun + verb
Junior me lo regala. Junior gives it to me.
◆ Change le and les to se when they are followed by lo, la, los, or las
Carmen le da (a Ud.) la nota. Carmen gives the note to you.
Carmen se la da. Carmen gives it to you.
Ramon le pinta un retrato. Ramón paints a portrait for him.
Ramon se lo pinta. Ramón paints it for him.
Prepositional pronouns
Pronouns that follow a preposition are formed as follows.
SINGULAR PLURAL
mi me nosotros, -as we
ti you (fam.) vosotros, -as you (fam.)
usted (Ud.) you (form.) ustedes (Uds.) you (form.)
el him, it ellos they
ella her, it ellas they
El regalo es de el para Lidia. The gift is from him to Lidia.
