Photocaging
Photoresists
Durante la década de 1980, AT & T Bell Laboratories exploraron el uso de PPG
basados en nitrobencilo como fotoprotectores . [51] [52] [53] [54] En el
transcurso de la década, desarrollaron un fotorresistente de tono ultravioleta
profundo donde el sustrato protegido se añadió a un copolímero de poli
(metacrilato de metilo) y poli (ácido metacrílico) . Inicialmente, la mezcla era
insoluble. Sin embargo, al exponerse a una luz de 260 ± 20 nm, la PPG se
eliminaría produciendo 2-nitrosobenzaldehído y un ácido carboxílico que era
soluble en una base acuosa.
