The Skills Transfer Plan will address the provision of skills on site at Riodor Marine and at the
premises of the client-Armscor
ON SITE TRAINING
Training will be provided on site in the various disciplines as reflected in this proposal.
Academic classes will be conducted in classrooms provided by the client on all repair and
maintenance to be undertaken. Learning materials will be supplied to learners and the scope of
work to be undertaken will be demonstrated.
Experiential training will be provided in order to identify learners through assistance with
maintenance and repair work undertaken both on naval vessels and workshops. Learners will be
given the opportunity to work with service provider’s technical staff to repair and maintain
equipment which will be assessed to confirm competencies.
The cost of training on site will be in line with client expectations per student per day.
Off-site training will be conducted at the premises of the service provider. The training will be
provided in the classroom and on an experiential basis in Riodor Marine’s workshop. The training
will cover all aspects of the bid proposal work and will include testing of equipment and
components.
Learners will be exposed to an industrial work environment where work of other clients are repaired
and maintained. This exposure will ensure that learners are equipped with skills to repair and
maintain a wide range of machinery and systems.
The learners will be assessed to confirm competency and the results will be provided to the
appropriate authorities.
The cost of training off site will be in line with client expectation.
TRAINING FACILITATORS
The training facilitators are all accredited, experienced, competent and qualified artisans and
technicians. They will ensure that the learners fully understand both the theory and practical
aspects of marine engineering and maintenance.
TRAINING MATERIALS
All training materials will be of the highest quality suited to each learning area.
AREAS OF TRAINING
QUALITY ASSURANCE
The highest quality standards will be maintained with all training provided both on and off site.
Additional training interventions can be undertaken where all the clients’ requirements can be
satisfied to MERSETA and SASSETA standards.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All learners will be required to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Learners will
be responsible for providing their own meals and personal stationery. Maximum group sizes will be
20 learners.
