5. FORMAT
5.1. The format for the Olympic classes will be fleet racing followed by one (1) medal race. The medal race
will carry double score points.
5.2. The format for all other classes will be fleet racing.
6. SCHEDULE
6.1. Registration for all competitors and support boats will be on Wednesday 2nd February 2011 from
1600hrs to 1900hrs and Thursday 3rd February 2011 from 0800hrs to 0900hrs at the Takapuna Boating
Club, The Strand, Takapuna.

6.2. Further opportunities for registration for the 2.4mR and Skud 18 will be on Thursday 3 February 2011

from 0800hrs to 1600hrs at the Takapuna Boating Club or on Friday 4 February 2011 from 0800hrs to
0900hrs at the Sailability Auckland Compound at Z Pier, Westhaven Drive, Westhaven Marina.
6.3. A competitor’s welcome will be held at 1900hrs on Wednesday 2nd February 2011, at the Takapuna
Boating Club.
6.4. The time of the first warning signal each day will be 1100hrs.
6.5. The schedule of races including medal races if any, and dates of racing are as follows:

6.6. On Sunday 6th February 2011 no warning signal will be made after 1700 hours.
7. MEASUREMENT
7.1. Where class rules require boats to have a valid measurement or rating certificate this shall be produced
at registration.
7.2. Competitors in the 470 Women and the Radial Women categories shall place a red rhombus on each
side of their sail (back to back). The rhombus size shape and location shall comply with the class rules.
7.3. All sails shall have the full unique official sail number and sailors from other than New Zealand shall
have national letter on their sails in accordance with the Class Rules and RRS.
8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1. The sailing instructions will be available after 20th December 2010 on the Sail Auckland website or at
registration.
9. VENUE
9.1. Attachment 2 shows the location of the regatta venue and the location of racing areas.
10. THE COURSES
10.1. The courses to be sailed will be trapezoid or windward/leeward.
11. PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1. Appendix P, Special Procedures For rule 42, will apply.
11.2. For the 49er, 29er RS:X and Skud 18 classes rule 44.1, Taking A Penalty, is changed so that the Two-
Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
11.3. Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5, Appeals and Requests to a National Authority.
12. SCORING
12.1. The Low points scoring system shall be used for all fleet races.
12.2. In the medal races a boat’s score shall be double the number of points specified in RRS Appendix A4.1,
Low Point and Bonus Point Systems, and the score for that race shall not be excluded from the series
score.
12.3. Ties in the series score between boats with different medal race scores shall be broken in favour of the
boat that scored better in the medal race. This changes Appendix A8, Series Ties.
12.4. 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
12.5. When fewer than five (5) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race
scores. When five (5) or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her
races scores excluding her worst score.
13. SUPPORT BOATS
13.1. Support boats will be allowed. All such boats shall display the number of the boat that they are
supporting and shall keep at least 100m from the race area whilst the boat(s) are racing.
13.2. Support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority at Registration (Clause 6.1 and 6.2
above.)
13.3. Sufficient Personal Flotation Devices for each crew member must be carried by all support boats at all
times in accordance with New Zealand Maritime Law.
13.4. Team leaders, coaches and other support personnel shall comply with clause 14 at all times.
14. PROHIBITED ANCHORING AREA
14.1. Boats associated with the regatta and registered support boats shall comply with the New Zealand
Government Regulation “Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996”. The regulation
prohibits anchoring in the area shaded in the “No Anchoring Area” in Attachment 3 and defined on
charts NZ 532 and NZ 5322.
14.2. Any boat or support boat breaking NoR clause 14 will be subject to a hearing which may result in a
report to their National Authority and ISAF. As a consequence, a competitor associated with the coach
of the support craft may be disqualified from the race closest to the time of the infringement.
15. LAUNCHING
15.1. Unless otherwise directed by the Organising Authority, all competing boats and equipment, other than
the 2.4mR and Skud 18 shall be launched and retrieved from Takapuna Beach and the 2.4mR and Skud
18 shall be launched and retrieved from the Sailibilty Auckland Compound.
16. RADIO COMMUNICATION
16.1. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio
communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
17. DRUG TESTING
17.1. Competitors are reminded of the ISAF rules and regulations concerning the use of banned methods and
substances. Drug testing may take place during the event.
18. PRIZES
18.1. Prizes will be awarded to place getters depending on the number of entries in each class.
18.2. Prizegiving will be held on Sunday 6th February 2011 as soon as possible after the last race at the
Takapuna Boating Club.
19. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
19.1. In signing the Entry Form and participating in the regatta a competitor automatically grants the
Organising Authority, Takapuna Boating Club and the sponsors of the regatta the right in perpetuity to
make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and
live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition
for the said regatta in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said regatta
without compensation.
20. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
20.1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The
organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death
sustained in conjunction with, or prior to, during or after the regatta.

21.1. Overseas sailors requiring charter boats should contact the class secretaries of the local class
