Evaluating the “New pubic management”

Overall I would like to argue that the “New pubic management” came as a result

of the needs of times. The new trend is a result of two factors: first due to the rising

economies and second as a result of industrialization.

As Kenichi argued in the “The End of Nation States: The rise of Regional

Economies” that economy is the current major player and manipulator in the field of

politics. The rise of Globalization made economics the main power to sought out for:

making it the current mode of warfare among countries. (Ohmae 1995) They aim to

become superpowers in the field of economics to dominate the political arena as we

have witnessed after the second world war wherein there is a significant decrease of

armed conflicts and focus on the development of economics.

The Globalization, which is considered to be a recent phenomenon, provided the

catalyst for the development of the market oriented public management. As the Nation-

States achieved recognition with the support free enterprise and capitalism, it also

threatens their very existence. The system must adapt together with its backbone in

order to ensure their legitimacy. That is why as a reactionary movement they must bend

over to the needs of the growing economies.

Another reason for its existence is the current fast paced era, wherein everything

is evolving, is in need of an administrative system that can adapt and with it. Innovations

especially technology ushered in this new era.
