Good morning sir, good morning classmates

Our names are Andrea Hernandez and Ignacio Maldonado

We will talk about the using skimming and scanning Reading stategies

What is Reading?

Reading is defined as a cognitive process that involves decoding symbols to arrive at

meaning. Reading with a purpose helps the reader to direct information towards a goal
and focuses their attention. Although the reasons for reading may vary, the primary
purpose of reading is to understand the text. Reading is a thinking process. It allows the
reader to use what he or she may already know, also called prior knowledge. During this
processing of information, the reader uses strategies to understand what they are
reading, uses themes to organize ideas, and uses textual clues to find the meanings of new
words.

What is Reading comprehension?

Reading comprehension is the process of constructing meaning from text. The goal of all
reading instruction is ultimately targeted at helping a reader comprehend text. Reading
comprehension involves at least two people: the reader and the writer. The process of
comprehending involves decoding the writer's words and then using background
knowledge to construct an approximate understanding of the writer's message .

What is a strategy?

1.A method or plan chosen to bring about a desired future, such as achievement of a goal
or solution to a problem.

2. The art and science of planning and marshalling resources for their most efficient and
effective use. The term is derived from the Greek word for generalship or leading an army.

What is a Reading comprehension strategy? (?

The process of comprehending text begins before children can read, when someone reads
a picture book to them. They listen to the words, see the pictures in the book, and may
start to associate the words on the page with the words they are hearing and the ideas
they represent.
In order to learn comprehension strategies, students need modeling, practice, and
feedback. The key comprehension strategies are described below.

everything.

How to scan:

* State the specific information you are looking for.

* Try to anticipate how the answer will appear and what clues you might use to help you
locate the answer.

* Use headings and any other aids that will help you identify which sections might contain
the information you are looking for.

* Selectively read and skip through sections of the passage.
