Exploring Punta Cana!

Welcome to ESL American History II!

- binder with dividers & looseleaf 50% Student Work
paper OR a notebook 50% Writing, Projects,
- black or blue pens Quizzes, Tests
- colored pencils (optional)

Together we will journey from the late 19th century western expansion up
through highlights from the early 2000’s. Class is divided into 8 units.
Some key themes are: the struggle for rights of various groups, and the
role of the U.S. on the international stage.

Our focus together will be on improving reading & writing


while learning important American history. We will also
improve our critical thinking and analysis skills. I’m excited to
get to know you and grow together! J

Grading Break Down
Student Work
Binders will be checked on test day for completion.
Homework will be checked frequently for an effort based grade.
In class assignments will be collected for either an effort-based grade or
accuracy on occasion. At least one per week.

Tests
There will be unit tests throughout the semester. Tests can include
multiple choice, matching, identification, short answer, and essays

Writing is super important in this class, we will do lots of writing
together. We will focus on growth rather than punishing grades, there
will often be opportunities to redo the assignment.
We do LOTS of hands-on projects in class.
Smaller collaborative projects will frequently count as classwork, while
the larger projects will often require outside of class time.

Test Corrections
- To receive test correction point student must have submitted
binder check and received a √ or higher.
- On a separate paper write: question number, correct answer, &
explanation of correct answer.
