Each question carries equal marks.
Answer four questions only.
For safety reasons the National Electrical Code restricts the single phase a.c. circuit-breaker
U\ be no more than 25 A for a 230 V household lighting branch circuit. Also the
~
rating
National Electrical Code requires a 25% safety margin for continuous lighting loads.
If there are no other loads connected, determine the number of 80 W lighting loads that can
be placed in one circuit.
For the circuit in Figure 02 find ZL for maximum average power transfer. Determine the
maximum average power transferred.

Question OS [15 Marks)
A signal generator applies voltage to a 10 11F capacitor with a waveform as in Figure 05. The
voltage rises linearly from 0 V to 5 V in 2 ms, falls linearly to -5 Vat t = 6 ms, remains constant
until t = 8 ms, rises to 5 V at t = 10 ms, and remains constant thereafter.
Deterwine the current of the capacitor at each time interval and the sketch current vs time graph
for the capacitor.
