INSIGHTS
Having an assessment is very
important in the teaching-learning
process. It is a tool where we can
use to assess the student’s
learning and progress. As a
teacher, we need to base our
assessment in the lesson
objectives to know if we reach the
said objectives. Also, we must
abide by the principles of
assessment.
The methods, tools, and forms of
assessment that the teacher uses
is very important in assessing
their students. Teachers must
select the appropriate
assessment method/tool/task for
different domains of learning and
for the 9 intelligences.
COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS
As we observed in Magamomo
Elem. School, not all the teachers
there were practicing self-
assessment, although there are
some, but still in my own opinion,
all the teachers must include self-
assessment because through this
assessment, their students will
become an independent learners.
They can learn by their selves
through experiencing it on their
own and reflect from it. Also, it is
very important to give positive
feedbacks to students so that
they can be motivated.
Teachers in Magamomo
Elementary School used different
methods/tools/tasks to assess
their students. They always make
sure to choose the appropriate
method/tool/task that is best
suited to their diverse learners.

TOS is very important tool for a
teacher. It helps us to make
assessment tools that have
content validity.
Computing a grade is a crucial
process. We need to be careful
and be accurate in computing a
grade to avoid conflict and bias.
But, in this new curriculum, they
have this system that can
automatically compute grades
when you encode your data.
As we observed their classes, we
noticed that the teachers are not
just transmitting knowledge to
their students. They also let the
students to have an active role in
the teaching-learning process.
Teachers made sure to reach the
level of applying, analyzing,
evaluating and synthesizing which
is a very good practice to ensure
the development of the learner’s
cognitive, affective and
psychomotor domain.
In making a TOS, we need to
ensure that the number of items
was properly distributed on the
different levels. By doing so, we
can produce an assessment tool
that has content validity.
Although we do not experienced
computing a grade, knowing that
we have this e-class record, it
seems to enlighten my mood that
time because sooner in the field,
it is already easy for us to
compute our student’s grades.

Being a student, it is very
important to know our grades. By
knowing our grades, we can be
aware of our own capability and
ability. Also, we can be motivated
to maintain our grades or to strive
harder for a better grade result.
Reporting the student’s
performances in school to their
parents is one of the roles of a
teacher. We need to inform the
parents so that they can monitor
their own child for their progress.
I suggest that all students must
be aware of their own grades. In
that way we can know if we have
a development and a progress
with ourselves in terms of our
knowledge, values/behavior and
our skills.
Teachers need to report student’s
performance meaningfully. They
need to be careful in reporting to
avoid conflicts with parents and
biases.
